Who had money on 4-1 today!?

Liverpool are third as it stands in the table, level on points with both Manchester United and Chelsea.

Manchester City are still 15 (FIFTEEN) points clear at the top.

    Liverpool 4-1 Man City

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Leicester City & Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

I've seen so many people write how to stop Man City and what to do, we've seen Bristol City press them, but the difference is Liverpool have pressed them and they've got the quality in the final third to make it count.

  4. No way back for Man City nowpublished at 17:30 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2018

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

Manchester City responded serenely to going behind in the first half but that dreadful error from John Stones has broken them - and that unbeaten record.

Stones was so weak that it allowed Roberto Firmino and Liverpool to get a foot in the door. Now they have hammered it down.

Manchester City have simply fallen apart from that moment.

Anfield is urging Liverpool on for more. 4-1 not enough for The Kop.

    Robbie Savage

Liverpool have been absolutely magnificent. Pep Guardiola has grabbed hold of Fernandinho and he's saying 'stay in the middle of the park', Pep needs someone to get a hold of this game. If it continues this way it could be five or six for Liverpool!

What a game here at Anfield - unbelievable! Ederson has put in a poor clearance and Mo Salah - 40 or 50 yards out - he's just guided it into the open net. What a goal! 4-1! Game over!

    Mohamed Salah

    PICK THAT ONE OUT.

That's special, and a rare error from Ederson in the Manchester City goal. He is so good at sweeping up but he can only kick the ball straight to Mohamed Salah just outside the centre circle. the Egyptian takes a touch and then bends a shot over the keeper's head and intothe vacant net.

    A brilliant goal!

    Liverpool 3-1 Man City

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Leicester City & Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

Nicolas Otamendi has been all over the place in this second half, Mo Salah's robbed him there and knocked it past him, forcing him to bring him down. City are all over the place, but you know Pep Guardiola won't change the way his team plays, he'll want them to keep playing out from the back.

    Liverpool 3-1 Man City

Can these two play every week please? A great watch for the neutral. Sadio Mane almost wriggles into the penalty area again, Liverpool look like scoring with every attack at the moment.

City have David Silva and Bernardo Silva on the bench but no out and out striker.

  15. Liverpool pressing has been the differencepublished at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January 2018

    Liverpool 3-1 Man City

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Leicester City & Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

The finishes from Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are world class, but not every team have got players like them who can press Man City so high, and that's been the difference so far today.

  16. YELLOW CARDpublished at 65 mins

Liverpool scored two goals and had a shot against the post in two minutes and six seconds. Wow.

Nicolas Otamendi has fallen apart, he's now booked for barging Mo Salah over.

    Liverpool 3-1 Man City

    Robbie Savage

What a strike from Sadio Mane! Man City have given two chances away in two minutes, Mo Salah has robbed Nocolas Otamendi and played Mane in, and what a finish! What a hit - straight in the top corner.

  20. goal

GOAL - Liverpool 3-1 Man Citypublished at 62 mins

    Sadio Mane

This one does find the net!

Seconds after Nicolas Otamendi lost the ball and Sadio Mane curled against the post, Mo Salah beats Otamendi to the ball again and plays in Mane.

It's on his left foot, edge of the area, and he smashes home into the top corner! Sensational finishing.
