Liverpool are like that bloke in the gym who always does upper body work, but never does his legs. Attack is brilliant, but the defence look about as sturdy as a plastic bag in a hurricane.

Peter: Joe Gomez has awful positional sense. Cost a few goals early in the season, then two against Arsenal, Burnley’s goal and then today. Always the same error and not learning!

Reminder that Gomez is 20, and a centre-back by trade...

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez's future will be decided "in the next 48 hours" after he was left out of the team for Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth, says manager Arsene Wenger.

The 29-year-old is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with a January move to Manchester City.

However, Manchester United have also been linked with the Chilean.

"I don't master the rhythm of it, but it could happen today, tomorrow or not at all," said Wenger.

"It will be decided in the next 48 hours."

Sergio Aguero has scored more Premier League goals against Liverpool than any other Man City player (six in 11 games). However, the Argentine is yet to score in five previous visits to Anfield in the competition – only at Selhurst Park has he played as many games without finding the net.

Gazarelda: Mattia Perin is the natural heir to Gianluigi Buffon and would be very gettable for £20m. He’d improve upon Liverpool’s keeper situation immeasurably.

That's the Genoa goalkeeper by the way

Sam: Joe Gomez needs a rest. First full season of senior football after two years out injured. Should be rotated with Trent Alexander-Arnold to prevent mistakes!

Ricky Lee Everett: Liverpool have battered Man City, but that defence/keeper are shambolic. City should be facing first defeat but can you really see this Liverpool side not shooting themselves in the foot?

Yusuf: Klopp's error in picking Karius might just cost Liverpool the game.

I have said it time and time again. Mignolet is a poor goalkeeper, but Karius is worse.

So often you build-up games and they turn out as 0-0s, but this has been brilliant. You've got to be a good player to play for both these sides because you receive the ball in tight areas, but you've also got to be able to press, great performance from both sides so far.

Referee Andre Marriner got caught out by the half-time sprinklers at Anfield - he and his assistants got a bit of a soaking on their way off the field.

Who will go on to win this one then?

Two mistakes from Liverpool there to allow Leroy Sane to score Manchester City's equaliser - one when Joe Gomez allowed the ball to drop behind him and the other when Loris Karius was beaten far too easily at his near post.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp suggested Karius would get a run if he performed well but he's not done himself any favours there.

Game just has a different feel to it now.

It's been a brilliant spectacle. Both teams are really going at each other and pressing each other high up the field. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain with a brilliant strike for Liverpool's goal, and Leroy Sane with the equaliser for Man City, there's got to be question marks over Loris Karius after that.
