    Match of the Day

Mohamed Diame's goal was immensely straightforward. Both playing with pace and purpose. Wayne Hennessey and Karl Darlow have made smart stops. Kenedy's lively nature has given Newcastle an extra edge. Martin Kelly's injury is just another headache for Roy Hodgson.

  4. Can Kane match Garth?published at 15:11 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2018

    Liverpool v Tottenham (16:30 GMT)

Question: What do Luka Modric, Teddy Sheringham, Clive Allen, Ernie Newman and Percy Humphreys all have in common with our very own Garth Crooks?

Answer: They are part of a very select group – players to have scored in a Tottenham league win at Anfield. Spurs have only won there six times in 74 league visits: 1910, 1912, 1985, 1986, 1993 and 2011.

Garth's winner came in March '85 - hammered in from close-range in front of the Kop after Bruce Grobbelaar had saved a Micky Hazard volley. What chance Harry Kane matching him today?

Noel Fitzpatrick: This week hasn't been a very good one for Chelsea's loans department, has it!! Kenedy and Batshuayi playing out of their skin, and Chelsea having lost 3-0 at home?!

Paul Baldwin: Take off McArthur, stick Wilf on the wing and bring on Sørloth

  6. Lawro's predictionpublished at 15:09 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2018

    Liverpool v Tottenham (16:30 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

Liverpool owe them one, but I don't see them getting their own back on Sunday.

Spurs showed against Manchester United that they are in good shape at the moment and they have not lost since their defeat by Manchester City in December. I see that run continuing.

    Prediction: 1-1

  7. Off to China? No thanks.published at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2018

Former Italy international Antonio Cassano dismissed "stupid" talk of him joining a club in China.

The 35-year-old, who has hesitated over retirement since leaving Verona last summer, was capped 39 times by Italy in his career and played for Roma, Real Madrid and both Milan clubs.

"Going to China? Stupid. For me everyone is free to do what they want," he said.

"But whoever goes to play in China should admit they are doing it for the money. I don't even remember the name of the team who want to sign me.

"I play tennis three times a week with my accountant. He always wins, for now, but I was born to play football."

  8. Pochettino: Behind closed doorspublished at 15:06 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2018

    Liverpool v Tottenham (16:30 GMT)

If you've not seen it yet, this is a really interesting interview with Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino on life outside of football.

He is a big fan of Game of Thrones apparently.

    Steve Claridge
Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

    It's evenly poised this game.

I've got a feeling there is more to come from Palace. We're in for a good second half.

Palace showed glimpses of what they're capable of.

  10. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:04 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2018

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Newcastle

Despite a number of chances for Crystal Palace, they haven't been able to equalise. Newcastle will go into the break with relief. They rode a late storm then.

Peter Collins: It is nice to see that Palace's players are copying Raheem Sterling. They clearly think he is a good role model

Kenedy running the show and two assists in two games surely shows the Newcastle board that even the smallest amount of ambition to sign a decent player makes all the difference.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 47 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Newcastle

Mamadou Sakho comes on for his first appearance since the start of December. Martin Kelly's injury is serious enough to see him substituted.

Can they knick one here before half-time?

They have certainly had their chances...

  14. CLOSE!published at 46 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Newcastle

Palace are going for it! Zaha fires the ball into Christian Benteke's feet and the forward flicks it onto Yohan Cabaye.

His strike is blocked and now Martin Kelly is down injured.

  15. CLOSE!published at 43 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Newcastle

    WOW. What a miss.

Wilfried Zaha shoots inside the box and the ball bobbles around everywhere. It hits two defenders before bouncing onto Christian Benteke's knee.

It's an open goal but it trickles wide of the post.

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Newcastle

The hosts have had the ball for a few minutes but they take their opportunity to whip a ball into the box through Andros Townsend.

It's a good ball too but goalkeeper Karl Darlow does well to come off his line and command the ball.

  17. Postpublished at 40 mins

Just over five minutes until half-time. Can Palace find a response to that sloppy goal they conceded from Mohamed Diame?

  19. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Newcastle

Wilfried Zaha is looking for Andros Townsend on the back post - and he was certainly in a lot of space - but the ball sails way over his head and out for a goal kick.

That was a half chance (maybe a quarter-chance?)

  20. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Newcastle

The hard tackles are still flying in. Mohamed Diame goes in on Luka Milivojevic and gives away a free-kick.

Pep Guardiola wouldn't be too happy...
