Robert Enright: That had to be the softest penalty given this season. The exact same happens to Lascelles in the first half and the same linesman gave nothing?? Quality officiating as always.

Kris Jefferson: I don’t understand why Newcastle are so negative every time they go ahead in a match. The same happened against Burnley a few days ago, and numerous other matches this season. No wonder they’ve only won one league match by more than 1 goal this season

Liam Reilly: Nice to see Newcastle with more than 20% of their shots on target. Not affecting this result, so far, but it's been our downfall this season

    Crystal Palace 1-1 Newcastle

Wilfried Zaha plays in James McArthur down the left and yet another chance is created for Palace as efforts from Zaha and Benteke are blocked.

They then almost get caught on the break and Wayne Hennessey has to be alert as a clearance rebounds off Ayoze Perez and is looped back across goal.

The best way to sum up the second half, is if you gave Newcastle the chance to stop the game now, they'd take it.

Palace would say 'absolutely no chance'.

  5. CLOSE!published at 67 mins

    Crystal Palace 1-1 Newcastle

Another missed chance from Crystal Palace.

This time it's Benteke who tees it up for Yohan Cabaye but the midfielder, still looking for his first goal of the season, doesn't connect with it properly and it goes over the bar for a goal-kick.

Peter O'Sullivan: Blimey, that penalty decision, a little soft....on those decision we could have a couple of pens a week in every PL game.

Rob Gibson: Clark definitely rightfully punished but there is no justice, as Lascelles should have a penalty in the first half stoppage time for the same stuff. No consistency.

Shamsheer Chelsea: Very very soft pen. And Darlow almost saved it as well. Palace are pushing in the second half.

Wilfried Zaha does excellent down the left-hand side. He is such a good footballer!

He did everything right and played a lovely ball across the box but it's just behind Christian Benteke and there is nobody else following up at the back post.

Nice turn from Christian Atsu and then an injection of pace down the left. He eventually loses the ball and now Crystal Palace can break...

It comes to nothing and Newcastle win back possession as Timothy Fosu-Mensah is shown a yellow card for a rash challenge.

David Ljunggren: Stupid from Clark. Watch us fold now and lose this.

Gareth Evans: I look forward to seeing 10 penalties a game if those are consistently called now.

That is never a penalty. If so you'd have 25 every game. Pathetic decision.

Benteke is in the box AGAIN and he has two attempts. The first one flies just over his head and Wilfried Zaha tries, acrobatically, to get on the end of it too. Then it's lofted back in the box and Benteke just about gets a touch before it flies wide.

There was certainly a shirt pull from Ciaran Clark but was it a bit soft?

There are appeals from Crystal Palace players as another ball is fired into the box and they believe it hits the hand of DeAndre Yedlin.

It's a corner that's given and Christian Benteke's header is wide again.

    Steve Claridge

You can just see the shirt being pulled. Yes, it's a penalty. It's a definite pull on the shirt.

Absolutely. A stupid, stupid thing for Clark to do.

The keeper is so unlucky, he does brilliantly and Palace get away with that and it goes in.

GOAL - Crystal Palace 1-1 Newcastlepublished at 55 mins

    Luka Milivojevic

It wasn't a convincing penalty as Karl Darlow got a good hand to the ball but couldn't quite get enough on it to steer it wide.

    Important goal for Palace.

  15. PENALTY - Crystal Palacepublished at 54 mins

Ciaran Clark tugs Chistian Benteke's shirt as he jumps up for the cross and referee Andre Marriner gives a penalty.

  16. Postpublished at 53 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Newcastle

Patrick van Aanholt makes a great run down the left and he fires in a delicious cross for Andros Townsend at the back post.

The winger can't direct his header properly and it goes way too high over the cross-bar. Palace are creating a lot of chances. How are they behind in this game?

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Newcastle

    Steve Claridge
Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

That is a woeful, woeful bit of play from Kenedy.

It's a dreadful pass, and they really should be two-nil up.

I'm not sure how Crystal Palace got themselves into that position.

  19. Postpublished at 51 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Newcastle

Newcastle had an opportunity to break away with Kenedy but he drifts off-side and wastes a two-on-one situation.

Palace are then awarded a free-kick from a long way out and Newcastle eventually win the ball back.

  20. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Newcastle

Luka Milivojevic plays another great pass into Christian Benteke and it starts a period of attack for the hosts.
