Kyle: Great to see Diame getting on the scoresheet as his performances over the last 4 or 5 games have been superb.

The game has opened up. Kenedy does brilliantly. It's a really good save from Hennessey.

Good play from both ends and two really good chances.

    There's a good tempo - it's more of a spectacle now.

Mohamed Diame tries a back-heel flick in the middle of the park and it's cut out by Palace.

The hosts haven't quite got things ticking yet.

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Newcastle

    Steve Claridge
Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

Palace have just fallen into a hole. I think it's something to do with the shape of the side.

They need a bit more balance as this is not quite working yet.

They're not getting the quality players on the ball in the right areas.

David PH Thomas: Newcastle look sharp. Palace could be in for a long game if they don’t step it up.

Patrick: Is it ironic that an ex-Liverpool player can't defend a corner?

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Newcastle

Palace enjoy some possession and space in midfield and it's eventually whipped in towards Christian Benteke.

The striker's flick-on looks tempting but Newcastle get it away before Yohan Cabaye has an audacious effort from outside the box which flies straight into the stands.

    It's still going I think...

James McArthur and Patrick van Aanholt try to link up for Crystal Palace down the left but it's cut out.

Wilfried Zaha is grimacing - that goal and that interception has clearly displeased him.

  12. It's a really smart finishpublished at 14:39 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2018

    Steve Claridge

Quite how that has got all the way through to Diame. I have no idea.

It's a good finish by the way. A really smart finish.

I think Perez might have helped it on - he got that all important little touch, which takes it away from everybody.

We see it so much at this level - people switch off. Where was his marker?

GOAL - Mohamed Diamepublished at 23 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-1 Newcastle

From the resulting set-piece, Kenedy fires it into the box and somehow it manages to get through everyone and all Diame has to do is poke it in at the back post.

What an awful goal for Crystal Palace to concede.

There's so much space for DeAndre Yedlin to cross the ball and he does just that, whipping a low ball in with pace towards Ayoze Perez.

The Newcastle number 17 gets a good connection but it's right at Wayne Hennessey and the goalkeeper does well to keep hold of it.

  19. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Newcastle

Newcastle's forwards put pressure on the Palace back four and it forces Luka Milivojevic to pass the ball out of play.

Newcastle regain possession and they are looking for that early run of Dwight Gayle but this time it's a little too far in front.

  20. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Newcastle

It's been quite a feisty game so far - both teams haven't been afraid to put in some hard tackles.

Kenedy has been putting himself about and he plays a ball across the box to Matt Ritchie. The midfielder can't get any power on his strike though and it's a comfortable save for Wayne Hennessey.
