Martin: Southampton are the definition of a team who have lost their personality. Liverpool are a team who ooze personality everywhere on the pitch - disgruntled Man U fan.

Anon: Why are Saints relegated in so many people's eyes. 6 points separate us from 10th place, we are playing a club who've lost only three games.

Again for Liverpool that was a simple one two. It wasn't that [Adam Lallana] he wasn't being tracked. He was. It was just that there was very little pressure put on Lallana.

Southampton have very rarely strayed into Liverpool's half. When you are in this situation you have to make your own luck.

Haymond: Sadio Mané’s search for a goal is impacting the team overall. He’s been very selfish with some passages of play today.

Johnny: So why is Mane apparently seen as indispensable by Klopp? He’s greedy, short-sighted and far too rash. He’s not good enough. Great last season, one of our worst players this year. No idea what’s happened to him but he doesn’t deserve to be anywhere near the first XI

Adam Lallana almost rubs salt in the wound as a flowing Liverpool attack ends with the former Southampton midfielder bending a shot just wide of the far post.

    Southampton 0-2 Liverpool

Southampton fans have largely given up trying to boo Virgil van Dijk now, frustrations perhaps switching to their Premier League predicament. A defeat today will leave them two points adrift with some tricky away games against relegation rivals coming up.

Now it's going to be a little more confusing. Is it going to be Adam Lallana or Virgil van Dijk that the Southampton fans boo most when they get the ball?

Kev: Kevin De Bruyne has helped City to a 16 point lead. He is the best player in the premier league and any other result would be a travesty.

Sana: Player of the year: Aguero every day of the year. He hasn't got it yet, even though he deserves it.

    Craig: Sterling?..... Seriously?

    Southampton 0-2 Liverpool

    Mark Schwarzer

This is the toughest part for Southampton when you sort out the men from the boys. The men step-up and take the ball. You need players to step-up and demand the ball. Players are starting to hide and you can't afford to have that at this stage.

Players just don't have the confidence or self-belief to grab hold of the ball. They just don't have the runners and very few players are making themselves available.

Howe Pundit: Tell me why Southampton sacked their manager from last season again? At least they weren't conceding like a basket with holes! Championship beckons... Maybe that was the board's plan all along...

Ash: Biggest cheer from Southampton fans was when Salah hit side netting at 2-0. Shows how little the team has done to spur on the players.

Georginio Wijnaldum lets the ball run through his legs for Sadio Mane as Liverpool come forward again, but Wijnaldum's generosity surprises Mane and he gets the ball stuck under his feet before smashing well wide.

    Southampton 0-2 Liverpool

    Mark Schwarzer

That was a good save by Alex McCarthy with his feet. Southampton looked resigned to Liverpool scoring a third. They just sat back and watched them. It was like they were waiting to concede another goal.

When you're a player you can look at this type of game as a free hit but Southampton are running out of games. They have to pick up points in every single game now.

Stephen: You can't keep selling your best players season after season then still expect to remain a premiership club .... Simple.

David: Can you really blame Southampton for selling players to Liverpool, when they're offering such silly money? There's not a team below the top six, say, that would refuse £75m for van Dijk.

Ooh, almost goal number 30 for the season for Mohamed Salah.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg makes a mistake and Sadio Mane is on it a flash before he sets off towards goal. Mane waits for support, squares to Roberto Firmino, his shot is denied before Salah puts the loose ball into the sidenetting.

Gazza: Salah and De Bruyne have got to have secured their place in the team of the season surely.
