Richard Browne: Conte was fantastic last year, adapted brilliantly and without major distractions got Chelsea the league. Chelsea's transfer policy as ever though has been an ongoing disaster of which he has no control. Getting Giroud instead of Aubameyang must be the final straw.

Donald: Yes, the premier league would definitely miss Antonio Conte. His management skills and the 3-4-3 switch last season is to date a great testament. Champions without outspending other top clubs.

The sprinklers are turned on at the Bridge, the home side must want things slick tonight. Four sprinklers in all are soaking the turf as the players exit for the changing rooms.

Now then, here's an interesting stat to impress your mates.

West Brom have provided the final game for a lot of managerial stints since 2012.

Craig Shakespeare left Leicester after a Monday night fixture with the Baggies this season.

But going further back, Mick McCarthy was sacked as Wolves manager in 2012 after losing 5-1 at home to the Baggies.

Andre Villas-Boas suffered the same fate at Chelsea after a 1-0 defeat at The Hawthorns in March 2012 and, eight months later, his successor Roberto di Matteo departed after a 2-1 defeat at the same ground in his final league match (his final game in charge was against Juventus in the Champions League).

    Still going...

Roberto Mancini was sacked by Manchester City despite having just beaten West Brom 1-0 in May 2013 and Paolo di Canio lost his job at Sunderland after losing 3-0 to the Baggies in September 2013.

    Still going...

Chris Hughton was sacked by Norwich after losing 1-0 to WBA in April 2014 and even the great Sir Alex Ferguson's final match in charge of Manchester United before retiring was also against the Baggies - a 5-5 draw in May 2013.

  5. Tricky managerial switch...published at 19:44 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February 2018

Chelsea v West Brom (20:00 GMT)

    Paul Robinson
Former West Brom defender on BBC Radio 5 live

It's been difficult for West Brom. When you have someone like Tony Pulis, who had them organised and hard to break down, now Alan Pardew is a free-flowing manager who likes to attack. It's about getting the balance now in how the players want to play.

Confidence is low when you're down at the bottom. The fans were never happy with the style of football under Tony but they were getting results.

  6. 'A lot to fight for' - Pardewpublished at 19:41 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February 2018

West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Pardew: "We are obviously under pressure because we are bottom of the league.

"I think you are going to see a lot of fight on the pitch in terms of two teams desperate to get points and turn a little bit of a corner for Chelsea and us to get a result that might be the boost that we need.

"I know Chelsea very well. I have watched them from afar. They have difficult periods but they do come through them and I have great respect for the manager and I think he will come through it - no problem."

  7. Studge needs to deliverpublished at 19:36 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February 2018

Chelsea v West Brom (20:00 GMT)

"He's trained well and I hope he delivers for us tonight because he really is a special talent when he has the ball."

    SturridgeImage source, Getty Images

Those are the words Alan Pardew has used when talking about Daniel Sturridge tonight. Sturridge started just five games for Liverpool this season but he looks like being critical to any survival hopes West Brom have.

He spent four seasons at Stamford Bridge of course, scoring 24 goals for Chelsea in the process. But three goals last season and seven the season before at Anfield are hardly figures you want to bank on.

Will his pivotal role get more out of him?

  8. Sturridge on the spotpublished at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February 2018

Chelsea v West Brom (20:00 GMT)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Stamford Bridge

Big night for Daniel Sturridge here as he returns to former club Chelsea with West Bromwich Albion.

The Baggies have pinned so many hopes on Sturridge after he arrived on loan from Liverpool and he needs to deliver quickly as Alan Pardew's side currently stand seven points from safety.

West Brom will also be delighted to have captain Jonny Evans back.

As for Chelsea manager Antonio Conte ...well we all know what a vital night this is for him. Defeat is unthinkable for the under-pressure Italian.

  9. Warm ups at the Bridge...published at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February 2018

West Brom's players are going through some plyometric drills, it's like they are warming up to do the long jump. Thankfully we don't have a sand pit here. We do though have a lion dressed in a Chelsea kit.

Chelsea are doing a series of side-to-side shuffles and then some bounding to replicate a jump for a header. Eden Hazard is wearing a snood to keep his neck warm - not sure how I feel about that.

I'm going to switch the focus away from the Blues for 10 minutes as West Brom deserve some spotlight while they're still in the Premier League (**ducks for abuse from West Brom fans).

  12. 'A dead man walking'published at 19:24 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February 2018

Chelsea v West Brom (20:00 GMT)

    Jonathan Pearce
BBC Match of the Day commentator

"Antonio Conte is in an unenviable position. Even if he wins this trio of massive home games over nine days, including Hull in the FA Cup and Barcelona, he's a dead man walking.

"It's unfair. He's knowledgeable, likeable, passionate and straightforward. The politics reek.

"West Brom have just three points from seven games against top-six sides and haven't won at Chelsea since 1983.

"Alan Pardew has eight points from 12 league matches - two fewer than his predecessor Tony Pulis managed in his final 12 at The Hawthorns. But the new Baggies boss can create history by becoming the first man to win at Chelsea with three Premier League clubs.

"If he does that, Conte might not make the weekend."

  13. Meltdown or knee-jerk?published at 19:21 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February 2018

Chelsea v West Brom (20:00 GMT)

Andy Cole and Craig BUrleyImage source, Getty Images

Where do you stand on this latest Chelsea meltdown?

Is it a meltdown? It's just two defeats after all. But looking at it in more detail, it's two defeats by a three goal margin. The last time the Blues lost by three goals in consecutive games was in 1995.

Back then they lost to Blackburn and Manchester United. The team looked a lot different then with the likes of Andy Myers, Paul Furlong and Craig Burley (pictured) featuring.

So is this run of form really as bad as people are making out? They are still in the hunt for the top four, still have world class players aplenty and last year battered every team into submission. Are we all being a bit knee-jerk?

    Evening from the Bridge.

Who’s in greater need tonight ? Chelsea who are fifth in the table, fresh from two horrendous performances and with a manager feeling the strain.

Or West Brom, seven points adrift and with one win in 24 league games.

Common sense would say the latter but there’s only one manager who’s under intense scrutiny and it’s the man who’s side could go into the top four tonight.

The good news for Chelsea is that Andreas Christensen is back and a miracle on the bench with the return of Alvaro Morata.

Ty: We have strength, depth, and quality. We also have a PL-winning manager and a squad full of Prem and Champions League experience. If we win, we're 3 points behind 2nd, and ahead of that is the best team in Europe. "Crisis" is a joke! We need confidence!

Die Hard Blue: Tonight is just the night. #chelseaFC, external will hammer WBA #Conte, external !! No pressure at all.

Tom Lewsley: I like Conte as a manager, but I feel like he’s already got one foot out the door and this is backed up by his recent team selections, e.g. Playing Bakayoko instead of a class player like Fabregas, I feel as though Ancelotti will return once’s Conte has departed.

  20. 'We know our predicament' - Evanspublished at 19:09 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February 2018

Chelsea v West Brom (20:00 GMT)

West Brom captain Jonny Evans speaks to Sky Sports: "Given that other teams around us are picking up points it can give us motivation to do the same.

"Chelsea are a different proposition as champions but we have to be confident and carry the game plan out to a tee. For a while now we have realised the predicament we are in. The most important thing is you have to be fully focused and concentrate on your game.

"A lot of things have to go in your favour but the first thing to do is make sure our work rate is as high as it can be."
