Striker Olivier Giroud makes his first Chelsea start since signing from Arsenal as Antonio Conte responds to last week's 4-1 hammering at Watford by making four changes.

Cesc Fabregas returns to the midfield while Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger are back in defence. Gary Cahill, Willian, David Luiz and Tiemoue Bakayoko, who was sent off at Vicarage Road, make way.

Cesar Azpilicueta is captain.

Three changes for West Brom after last week's 3-2 home defeat by Southampton.

Defender Jonny Evans returns from a back injury to skipper the side, while former Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs and Grzegorz Krychowiak are recalled.

The players making way are Gareth McAuley, Allan Nyom and Claudio Yacob.

Daniel Sturridge starts against his former club.

One thing that irks me about the modern-day pro is their hairstyles. It's not that they are well groomed, it's that the hair is never out of place. Take Giroud as an example, or maybe look at Liverpool's Emre Can. How can men play a game and remain in this slick-looking state?

It's just not on.

Anyway, here's what Giroud has had to say about his place in the starting line-up:

"My qualities you know," he told Sky Sports. "The coach told me that I am in and he explained what he expected from me. We worked a lot tactically in training so I am ready and finished with the hamstring injury. I'm fresh and really want to play."

When you look at Chelsea last year - it was a very settled side - and they didn't have Champions League football, of course. Now they look all over the place, Antonio Conte doesn't seem to know what his best side is, and their recruitment over the summer was odd.

Tiemoue Bakayoko has been a real disappointment for them, he doesn't have the class of Nemanja Matic in the middle, and he hasn't supported N'Golo Kante enough for me.

No Bakayoko tonight of course Kev - he's suspended for being a naughty boy.

It is maybe harsh to state Chelsea are in crisis mode. They are after all still very much in the top-four hunt. But you just get the sense that something is brewing do you not?

And is Antonio Conte's latest hit in the media a swipe at the club's bosses?

The 48-year-old Italian says he needs to be more persuasive and feels he's been a "bit of a disaster" in the transfer market.

"I have to speak more with the managers who are very, very good at persuading their clubs to spend money to buy top players," he said.

"I think I'm a bit of a disaster to convince the club to buy players. I think in this aspect I can improve a lot.

"I have to learn a lot from the other coaches, the other managers, in that aspect."

Is this a bit rich? Conte signed Olivier Giroud, Emerson Palmieri and Ross Barkley in January. He's hardly operating on a 1920s budget.

That is a remarkable statistic.

West Brom have won once since 19 August in the Premier League.

Goals have been a major problem as with 21, the only side with fewer in the top tier is Swansea.

But that said, Burnley have just 21 to their name and life is well or them.

That's bent my brain a bit.

They need to get it right and get it right quickly.

That's right, West Brom arrive here as the banana skin which could send Antonio Conte, Gary Cahill, Roman Abramovich and the rest of Chelsea's hierarchy into a tailspin.

The Baggies come in with back-to-back defeats of their own and an ever-widening margin appearing to the promised land of Premier League safety.

One way or the other tonight, one of these sides are in a world of trouble by 22:00 GMT.

When you've had back-to-back defeats and the vultures are circling, there's something bitter sweet about welcoming the league's bottom club to your home.
