  7. Arsenal in 'crazy' striker situationpublished at 08:17 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2018

    On his way out?

I would be amazed if Arsenal let Olivier Giroud go to Chelsea, but if Michy Batshuayi goes to Dortmund and Chelsea cannot sign Edin Dzeko then Giroud is clearly on their list.

I'd find it weird to let Giroud go to a competitor. It's a crazy situation. Arsenal could have signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the summer and have Giroud as their 'Plan B' option but instead they hesitated for a long time between Aubameyang and Lacazette and chose Lacazette for £53m.

Then, six months down the line they decide that maybe that was a mistake so they are going to spend another £55m on Aubameyang, a striker with many similarities to Lacazette.

If Giroud wants to go to the World Cup he has to play and if Arsenal have Aubameyang and Lacazette then he will have to surely leave.

    Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona

Philippe Coutinho was the big mover early on in the window, joining Barcelona from Liverpool for £142m.

After completing the switch, the Brazilian said: "I am very happy, it's a dream come true and I hope to be up to the job on the field."

Coutinho was recovering from a hamstring injury when he joined on 8 January but made his debut as a substitute in 2-0 Copa del Rey win against Espanyol on 25 January before making his first full start three days later as Barcelona beat Alaves 2-1 in La Liga.

  14. Sanchez to turn your season around?published at 07:55 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2018

    Simon March
    Fantasy Football Champion

The biggest move of the transfer window so far from a fantasy football perspective is Alexis Sanchez’s switch from Arsenal to Manchester United. Sanchez has been largely overlooked by fantasy football managers so far this season, partly because of his price; he’s one of the most expensive players in the game and, also, due to lingering doubts over his form, mindset and motivation while still at Arsenal.

The fact that Sanchez, last season’s top FPL scorer with an incredible 24 goals and 11 assists from midfield, is currently owned by less than 4% of managers makes him the ultimate differential option for any cash-heavy managers looking to turn their seasons around.

  18. What happened last year?published at 07:36 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2018

It was a pretty quiet transfer deadline day last year.

The most expensive incoming transfer was Southampton's £14m signing of Italy striker Manolo Gabbiadini from Napoli.

Burnley broke their transfer record to sign Republic of Ireland winger Robbie Brady from Norwich, while Odion Ighalo was the major exit, joining Chinese Super League club Changchun Yatai for £20m from Watford.

  20. Aubameyang's Spanish dreampublished at 07:30 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2018

    Arsenal

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is likely to dominate the agenda today with Arsenal fans desperate for the Borussia Dortmund striker to complete his move.

But these quotes from back in 2015 may worry a few Gunners supporters.

"I think one day I'll leave (Dortmund) to play in another league because my dream is to play in Spain," Aubameyang told BBC World Service after being nominated for the African Footballer of the Year award.

"The English Premier League? Lots of people think that it would good for me but my mum is Spanish and I really have that dream to play over there.

"After that maybe one day the Premier League but for the moment I aim to one day play in Spain."

    People change... right?
