  1. All to play forpublished at 22:25 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2018

    Chelsea 1-1 Barcelona

Barcelona's kingpin cracked the code on the Chelsea defence, but if the Blues can repeat their last result at the Nou Camp - the 2-2 draw in 2012 - then it will be they, not the Catalans, who make the last eight.

All to play for. Which is more than you can say for some of the last-16 ties.

    Bye for now.

    Chelsea 1-1 Barcelona

    Henry Winter
Chief Football Writer for the Times

It was a terrible mistake from Andreas Christiansen. But he’s 21. He’s learning and he has been one of Chelsea’s better defenders this season.

It was a bad mistake, I don’t think Cesc Fabregas helped him in terms of providing an option. I was surprised to see someone of Cesar Azpilicueta’s experience and composure diving in to cover the mistake.

There will some frustration for Chelsea and Conte as he got tactics right. They had defended so well until that moment.

  4. 'Try and do something incredible'published at 22:12 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2018

    Chelsea

More from Antonio Conte speaking to BT Sport: "I think in the second leg we have to play a game against Barcelona and we know his team is very strong and fantastic.

"The final result and qualification is open, it will be very difficult but our performance gives confidence to try and do something incredible."

  6. 'Close to perfect'published at 22:11 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2018

    FT: Chelsea 1-1 Barcelona

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte speaking to BT Sport: "We were very close to the perfect game. One mistake and we know very well when you make a mistake against Barcelona and players like Messi, Suarez and Iniesta you pay.

"It is a pity. I am very proud for my players. They followed what we prepared.

"It's a pity. tonight we were a bit unlucky.

"I think when you play this game you must have a plan and respect the characteristics of the opponent. Our plan was really god. The effort of the players was great, we are talking about 1-1 and maybe we deserved more."

Samuel: It's disrespectful to Chelsea to say Barca were poor.

Alex: Conte got his tactics spot on. Can't account for errors like that though.

Elmir: One stupid defensive error...Chelsea very easily outplayed Barcelona at Stamford Bridge...but you aren't allowed to make such mistake when you are up against world class club...we still have a chance at Nou Camp, we need to score an early goal there.

  8. 'Conte will be disappointed'published at 22:02 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2018

    Chelsea 1-1 Barcelona

    Andy Townsend
Ex-Republic of Ireland international on BBC Radio 5 live

    "Antonio Conte will be disappointed.

"Tactically he will feel he got it right.

"His keeper wasn’t overworked, shots weren’t raining in on goal. Plus they got themselves into the lead.

"Chelsea could have been two or three up. Willian was very unlucky, his goal was excellent. But for the width of the post, Chelsea could have been a couple of goals to the good."

  9. Barca trump the possession statspublished at 22:01 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2018

Barcelona lead by the usual landslide on the possession stats.

The visitors racked up 73% of possession and 887 passes to Chelsea's 325.

Only three of Barcelona's starters - Luis Suarez, Paulinho and goalkeeper Marc Andre ter Stegen - had less touches than Chelsea's most involved player - Victor Moses with 58 touches.

Dave Smith: People forget this is a Chelsea team supposedly under-performing against a Barcelona side walking away with their league, great performance from the boys in blue. Unlucky not to have won.

Jayceechamz: Who would have said this before the game"chelsea not happy with draw?"

  11. 'I was a bit unlucky'published at 21:55 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2018

    Chelsea 1-1 Barcelona

    Chelsea

Chelsea goalscorer Willian speaking to BT Sport: "I'm happy for the goal but I'm a bit sad with the result. I think we deserved to win - they had more possession but we created dangerous chances to score. We have to go there and play the same game.

"I was a bit unlucky (hitting the post twice). I have to keep on working and look forward to the other games."

  12. 'Defending for 90 minutes is a suicide mission'published at 21:52 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2018

    FT: Chelsea 1-1 Barcelona

    Cesc FabregasImage source, AFP

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas speaking to BT Sport: "It is such a shame really. I thought we were very good, we executed the game plan really well, we were compact, solid, played as a team and created lots of chances - Willian could have had a hatrick - but we go home sad because a fantastic performance is not a fantastic result.

"It is still open though and we have showed that we can compete and we will need another excellent performance at the Nou Camp to go through.

"You have to have a lot of personality to play against this team who has 70% of the ball. We have to go there to attack and score because 90 minutes defending at the Nou Camp is an eternity, it is a suicide mission. We have to play our game."

    Andy Townsend
Ex-Republic of Ireland international on BBC Radio 5 live

It has been a fascinating watch. Chelsea got the lead through Willian, but then carelessly, needlessly, sloppily handed Barcelona an equaliser to Lionel Messi.

He previously had trouble with Chelsea but when they needed him most, when his team need him, he usually provides.

Barcelona paid Chelsea the ultimate respect. It will be a different Barcelona in the Nou Camp in a couple of weeks.

Anon: So busy trying to stop Barcelona playing their football, that we forgot to show them how we play our own. Far too much respect.

Hal: Before kick off I would have taken 1-1 without a moment's hesitation but now so disappointing, could have been so much more! Doubt Barcelona will be that poor at the Camp Nou.
