  1. 'Breakdown in communication'published at 15:16 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

    West Brom 0-1 Southampton

    Michael Appleton
Leicester City assistant manager on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

I've got to say that's a strange goal to concede.

They can be potent from attacking set plays but West Brom should be able to defend that Southampton set play better.

It was an easy chance in the end. The out-swinging delivery didn't allow Foster to come and collect it and it looked like there was a break down in communication between the defenders.

  2. CHANCE!published at 15:16 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

    West Brom 0-1 Southampton

Salomon Rondon smashes a free-kick from range off the wall and out for a corner as West Brom look to reply.

Craig Dawson leaps high to reach Matt Phillip's high cross and ends up way too high - he gets to the ball first about six yards out but can only steer the ball into the stands.

GOAL - West Brom 0-1 Southamptonpublished at 15:11 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

    Wesley Hoedt (11 mins)

Corner Southampton now. Cedric Soares wanted one a few moments ago and ended up with a West Brom goal kick. Now James Ward-Prowse has the chance to deliver.

    So easy!

It is awful Baggies defending - two markers drift towards the ball at the near post, it evades both of them and Wesley Hoedt is totally free in space to smash home.

  5. No pattern to the gamepublished at 15:10 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

    West Brom 0-0 Southampton

    Michael Appleton
Leicester City assistant manager on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

When West Brom teams go in front, they don't usually lose the game.

So to go and score first and then concede three goals to Southampton last time they were here - West Brom will want to improve on that.

There's not much pattern to the game so far and it feel just like a cup tie. They are just getting used to each other.

  6. Postpublished at 15:10 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

    West Brom 0-0 Southampton

Relief for Southampton as Alex McCarthy booms the ball clear with a punch, his side were pinned right back after a dangerous West Brom corner.

But the flag was up for offside anyway. In other news: the sun's out. Ah it's gone.

    Brighton v Coventry (15:15 GMT, kick-off delayed)

There are some Coventry fans in the ground already - some very optimistic looking ones. Garbed in matching flat bobble hats they are. Very nice.

  8. 'Players will adjust'published at 15:08 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

    Brighton v Coventry (15:15 GMT, kick-off delayed)

    David Pleat
Former Tottenham manager on BBC Radio 5 live

I think they'll just adjust to the delayed kick off. The players would have been told early.

Interestingly the Brighton fans are all here. It's the Coventry fans that are struggling to get here.

Just a quick reminder that kick-off has been delayed in the other planned 15:00 GMT start. Soon should be under way at Brighton v Coventry too though.

  10. Mixed reception for Barry & Evanspublished at 15:06 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

    West Brom 0-0 Southampton

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at the Hawthorns

There were boos and cheers when the names of Gareth Barry and Jonny Evans were read out ahead of kick-off.

The pair might have apologised for breaking the curfew in Barcelona last week but the only way to properly redeem themselves is through what they do on the pitch.

  11. Postpublished at 15:06 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

    West Brom 0-0 Southampton

Ah that's a poor touch from Mario Lemina on the edge of the box, the ball runs away from him when it was there to be hit.

Shame for Southampton, because there was good work from Dusan Tadic and Nathan Redmond in the build-up. They're growing into this...

    West Brom 0-0 Southampton

Interestingly, Jonny Evans isn't wearing the captain's armband today - Gareth McAuley is West Brom's skipper.

Surely that's punishment for his part in the Barcelona episode?

  13. Postpublished at 15:02 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

    West Brom 0-0 Southampton

It's a pretty sparse Hawthorns crowd to be honest. Lots of empty seats on display.

Matt Phillips drives on up the park - stronger in the challenge than Mario Lemina - but the winger's cross is too deep.

  15. 'Pardew's handled it well'published at 14:59 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

West Brom v Southampton (15:00 GMT)

    Michael Appleton
Leicester City assistant manager on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

It looks like a strong West Brom team Pardew has put out.

It is an opportunity to make the quarter final, that's a big incentive - especially after the week that they have had.

The way Pardew has handled it is very good. He needs to focus everything into what happens on the pitch.

If they give a performance and get a positive result, things can be forgotten quite easily.

  16. Postpublished at 14:59 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

West Brom v Southampton (15:00 GMT)

Claps, claps and more claps from the Hawthorns crowd as the players head out onto the pitch.

Alan Pardew and Mauricio Pellegrino share a stiff handshake and a brief smile.

  17. Postpublished at 14:57 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

West Brom v Southampton (15:00 GMT)

No delay in kick-off at the Hawthorns. What kind of reception will those four Baggies players get?

The West Brom and Southampton lot are lining up in the tunnel. It looks a bit like they're inside a giant humbug, or maybe an Everton mint. Lots of stripy walls.

    Brighton v Coventry (15:15 GMT, kick-off delayed)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

Coventry have been great so far in the FA Cup but I can't see a shock here. Brighton strengthened their squad in January and even though they will change their team they are on a good run a the moment and will want to keep it going. Coventry have had a great run and hopefully there will be a big crowd at Brighton and a big pay day for Coventry.

    Lawro's prediction: 2-0

  19. 'I'd expose all four'published at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

West Brom v Southampton (15:00 GMT)

    David Pleat
Former Tottenham manager on BBC Radio 5 live

A few people have asked me what would I do about the four West Brom players after the incident in Barcelona. I would expose all of them.

I'd let the thousands of fans see all four of them today.

I think the Baggies can win.

West Brom v Southampton (15:00 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

These two played each other recently and there were loads of goals in that game. Football is just a bit mad sometimes and I am going to go for a West Brom win. They can't win a game at the moment but I'm tipping them for this one.

    Lawro's prediction: 1-0
