After breathing a sigh of relief at Tottenham's second goal, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy had to sit back in silence for a second time as the stadium erupted.

The visitors hung around a bit before making their exit.

At least they know the drill with the replay after Newport in the last round.

  4. 'An incredible game of football'published at 17:59 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2018

    Rochdale 2-2 Tottenham.

    Alan Shearer
Former Newcastle striker on BBC One

It's just an incredible game of football. Rochdale deserved to be in front at half-time. Tottenham dominated in the second half and brought the big boys on to change the game and we thought that was it but what credit to Rochdale.

For Spurs fans, the journey home is going to be as long as the one back from Newport in the previous round. Or maybe worse after watching their side fight back from behind to be seconds away from the quarter-finals.

Smiling eyes and beaming faces everywhere, or nearly everywhere, around Spotland. Dale chairman Chris Dunphy is grinning like he has just won the lottery. He has just won the football lottery with this trip to Wembley for the replay.

    Rochdale 2-2 Tottenham

    Wow. Just wow.

Let's be honest we all thought Dale were dead and buried, didn't we?

And that's why we love football. League One's bottom side have fought back to nick a draw against one of the Premier League big boys.

    Spotland can't believe it!

  9. 'Unbelievable'published at 90+4 mins

    Rochdale 2-2 Tottenham

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

Unbelievable. They've picked themselves up with spirit and determination and what a good finish from the substitute Steve Davies.

I'm pleased for the whole club, they have played tremendously well and get a trip to Wembley.

  10. goal

GOAL - Rochdale 2-2 Tottenhampublished at 90+3 mins

    Steve Davies

OMG. Rochdale have equalised! Unbelievable stuff.

Substitute Steve Davies turns on a six-pence and clinically fires in from 12 yards. Where did that come from?! Rochdale fans don't care! They're going back to Wembley!

The set-piece came to nothing before the ball was recycled to Matt Done on the left. He swings in to Davies, via the head of Kieran Trippier, and the super-sub does the business.

Into the first of FOUR minute stoppage time.

"Wembley, Wembley. we're the famous Tottenham Hotspur and we're off the Wem-ber-leee!" sing the away fans.

A bit too early? Or is there one last chance for Rochdale?

  13. Postpublished at 90 mins

No way back for Rochdale now one would imagine.

  14. 'He always seems to score'published at 89 mins

    Rochdale 1-2 Tottenham

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

Great penalty. The keeper went the right way but the pace on the ball beat him. It was right in the corner. Harry Kane has got super confidence hasn't he.

It doesn't seem to matter how long he is on the pitch for. He always seems to score.

It had to be. Harry Kane grabs hold of the ball - the tie is at his feet.

Kane runs up... and makes no mistake, driving firmly into the bottom left corner.

  16. PENALTY TO SPURSpublished at 87 mins

    Rochdale 1-1 Tottenham

Heartbreak for Rochdale... perhaps? Dale defender Harrison McGahey is bamboozled by the fresh legs of Dele Alli, who skips around him in the box and teases out a clumsy challenge.

Ref Bobby Madley instantly blows his whistle and points to the spot. Over to Harry Kane and Josh Lillis...

  17. 'Last ditch'published at 17:44 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2018

    Rochdale 1-1 Tottenham

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

It's last ditch now for Rochdale. They are hanging on but they deserve a replay.

The sheer guts and determination they have shown to stay in this match.

  18. Postpublished at 85 mins

    Rochdale 1-1 Tottenham

"Shoooot!" shout the Spurs fans every time Victor Wanyama gets the ball within striking distance. This time he does have a pop, but he can't replicate THAT Anfield moment as Josh Lillis gathers.

  19. 'Super tackle from McNulty'published at 83 mins

    Rochdale 1-1 Tottenham

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

It was a super tackle from Jimmy McNulty. You've got two central defenders with cramp now which says a lot about what Rochdale have put into this.

If you had told these Rochdale players and supporters earlier that they'd still be in the game with seven minutes to play they'd have been very happy.

  20. Postpublished at 82 mins

    Rochdale 1-1 Tottenham

I'm not sure they'll survive though. Spurs have set up camp in Rochdale territory.

Erik Lamela almost finds a way through, his deflected shot loops up off two despairing lunges from Dale defenders and goes goalwards... Matt Done is perfectly placed on the goalline to head clear.
