    Rochdale 0-0 Tottenham

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

What a chance that was. You always felt Josh Lillis was going to have to make saves today.

  2. 'Spurs should be one goal up'published at 27 mins

    Rochdale 0-0 Tottenham

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

It was a really good move from Spurs. They should be one goal up. It was on Fernando Llorente's weaker foot. He just pulls it wide of the post, that's the way it's going for him at the moment.

    Rochdale 0-0 Tottenham

Spurs should be one-nil up. Son Heung-min dillies and dallies as Josh Lillis races off his line after Dale keeper saves his initial shot.

Son misses his chance to shoot again but, to his credit, stays patient to pick out Fernando Llorente. The Spanish striker drags his shot wide of the right-hand post with Lillis still stranded but with men behind him on the line.

The Rochdale fans nearest to the MOTD studio continue to make a right old racket and, briefly, light a small flare too. They get it going for about five seconds before a pair of stewards confiscate it and throw it in a bucket of water. I think the home supporters should stick to songs about going to Wembley from now on... I presume Spurs fans aren't bothering with them this season though?

Halfway through and it's as balanced as Joe Wicks' diet. Not much difference in the heat map for Rochdale's players, left, and Tottenham's players, right.

  6. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Rochdale 0-0 Tottenham

Spurs try to drop a gear, again building up the attack down the right flank. Kieran Trippier's ball eventually falls to Son Heung-min, whose shot is deflected wide for a corner by the bulky frame of Harrison McGahey. He looks as hard nails, that lad.

  7. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Rochdale 0-0 Tottenham

Rochdale ease off the gas a little, they can't continue to press at that intensity. Spurs have a spell of possession but don't venture much over the halfway line.

    Rochdale 0-0 Tottenham

What a chance! Ian Henderson's heart beats a little faster as he sees sight of the Spurs goal, but his angled shot lacks power and is easily gathered by Spurs keeper Michel Vorm. Looked like there were a couple of runners to his left...

    Rochdale 0-0 Tottenham

How's Rochdale defender Harrison McGahey not been given a yellow card? He hacks down Harry Winks with a wild lunge on the halfway line. Could have been a red.

What a great move that was. Great football from Rochdale.

When you look at their league position I'm shocked. They are playing with a real spring in their step. It wasn't a penalty though.

    Rochdale 0-0 Spurs

Alderweireld just lost his footing again and I think it does touch his arm but it's a very difficult one to give.

  12. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Rochdale 0-0 Tottenham

Hang on, I thought this lot were supposed to be bottom of League One?! They don't look like it. Rochdale knock the ball around beautifully and patiently, Andrew Cannon cutting into the box from the right as he tries to go past Toby Alderweireld. The two collide and... is that a penalty? The home fans think the Belgian handballed it...

  13. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Rochdale 0-0 Tottenham

Back up the other end, Rochdale try to pen up their illustrious visitors. A deep cross from the right just evades Ian Henderson and Spurs survive...

  14. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Rochdale 0-0 Tottenham

Not been a helter skelter start, I must admit. Spurs will be hoping to see out this early Rochdale enthusiasm and then take control.

The Premier League visitors then put together their best move of the match, Moussa Sissoko on the right flank centres to Son who tries a neat one-two with Fernando Llorente.

Ahh. Son's touch bobbles up and the ball hits his other shin before bobbling off out for a goal-kick. If only they had a decent pitch...

  15. 'Moura looks dangerous'published at 10 mins

    Rochdale 0-0 Tottenham

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

It's a young Rochdale side isn't it? They are not going to lack for energy or enthusiasm even if they don't have the experience.

Lucas Moura is very good at running with the ball at his feet. He looks dangerous. He'll add a different dimension for Tottenham.

  16. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Rochdale 0-0 Tottenham

Here goes Lucas Moura again. He drifts in from the right again, picking up the ball and running at the home defence. The Brazilian tries to slip the ball through to Son, but Andrew Cannon helps shepherd it back to his keeper.

Promising start to his Spurs career. (His one-minute cameo at Juventus doesn't count...)

  17. 'A confident start for Rochdale'published at 8 mins

    Rochdale 0-0 Spurs

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Rochdale like to get the ball down and play, it's been a confident start. They are trying to be inventive.

But don't take risks that could give Spurs an early goal.

  18. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Rochdale 0-0 Tottenham

Lucas Moura shows us a little glimpse of why Spurs were willing to part with £25m for him, dancing his way around a few Rochdale players in the middle of the park. Ultimately it comes to nothing as the attack breaks down.

  19. 'It's a great opportunity for the Rochdale players'published at 6 mins

    Rochdale 0-0 Tottenham

    Danny Murphy
Former England midfielder on BBC One

It's a great opportunity for these Rochdale players. It brings back many memories for me from my teenage years in the lower leagues.

You try your best to put in a performance that people remember. It's a good start from Rochdale, it was a tremendous move playing out from the back.

  20. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Rochdale 0-0 Tottenham

After Son Heung-min briefly threatens up the other end, Rochdale win a free-kick in a decent spot inside the Spurs half. But Joseph Rafferty's adrenalin is pumping a little too quickly, knocking it too long for Stephen Humphrys as the ball runs out for a goal-kick.
