Lewis: Everyone seems to be being a bit over the top about VAR. Yes this decision was wrong and they need to review when VAR can intervene. But this one error doesn't make the whole thing a waste of time

Andrew, Clitheroe: VAR got that spot on. Don't know what the fuss is about. Come on The Dale

Steve, Leeds: People need to read the rules for VAR it's used after every goal that's scored and then for clear obvious decisions. The foul committed after a goal doesn't have to be clear and obvious. Bored of people moaning about a system that they don't understand.

  3. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 45 mins

    Spurs 1-1 Rochdale

This game has had everything. Rochdale hit the post. Michel Vorm's clearance, possibly blocked, is poor. It lands to Stephen Humphrys, who plays in Andrew Cannon - and his shot across goal CANNONS off the base of the post.

  4. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Spurs 1-1 Rochdale

Rochdale goalscorer Stephen Humphrys touches the ball past Juan Foyth, who sends him flying to the (presumably rock-hard) turf. Yellow card for the Spurs defender.

A blue smoke bomb among where Rochdale's fans are seated greets the League One club's superb equaliser.

Keith Hill's side are giving another excellent account of themselves as Tottenham's fans grow increasingly angry and frustrated.

This has become a stop-start tie due to VAR with referee Paul Tierney holding up play numerous times and disallowing two Spurs goals.

Mauricio Pochettino has a face like thunder.

Anon: This VAR is ruining football. sterilising football is not the way forward no fun, boring. taking all the atmosphere out the game . these footballers are insured why are they making it a non contact sport as well? There was nothing wrong with spurs's first goal . this is completely wrong . What the hell is matter with these people

Andy: Who needs a winter break!? We have VAR!

Anon: VAR is CLEARLY and OBVIOUSLY sucking the life out of the beautiful game. Pass the responsibility back to the referee... we have always and will always understand there will be human errors from time to time.

Rochdale have kept two up front whenever they're defending. And when they get it forward they're getting bodies up in support. Look at them now, there's four up there.

Stephen Humphrys' goal ended a run of 500 minutes for Tottenham without conceding at Wembley.

Spurs have a corner now, which Erik Lamela did well to win.

    Tottenham 1-1 Rochdale

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Wembley

It has been pointed out many times that the problem with VAR is that the fans in the stadium have no real idea what is going on.

When the game is stopped as often as tonight's - and the decisions being made are so big - it causes the fans to lose confidence in the referee.

Consequently, Paul Tierney is now getting more grief than he would have been if he had just gone with his initial instinct on all these decisions.

    Spurs 1-1 Rochdale

Erik Lamela has a shot saved by Josh Lillis and Rochdale's defence can clear. Been about three minutes since a VAR review.

    Spurs 1-1 Rochdale

    Mark Schwarzer
Ex-Chelsea keeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

The ref's got his finger to his ear again but I think he's going through the formalities. It has to be a goal. It's a great touch and Humphrys finishes really well at the near post. You have to ask questions about the defending though

    Stephen Humphrys

    WELL NOW.

After Spurs have two goals disallowed, Rochdale are level at Wembley!

Stephen Humphrys controls Andrew Cannon's pass over the top, Juan Foyth stick out a leg and cannot stop him, and the Dale player takes the ball past keeper Michel Vorm and slots home.

    Wow.

  18. Another goal disallowedpublished at 20:16 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2018

    Spurs 1-0 Rochdale

    Mark Schwarzer
Ex-Chelsea keeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Because Son stops his run-up, there's about four or five players level with him. I think the ref's right again with the decision but people don't know what he's looking at.

  19. Postpublished at 31 mins

    Spurs 1-0 Rochdale

The referee has disallowed the goal, and not allowed Son Heung-min to have a second attempt.

It was ruled out because he stopped and started in his run-up. It is the right call by the laws of football. But you see it happen so often.
