Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has dismissed any suggestion Spurs could have an advantage if they reach the FA Cup semi-final, which would be played at Wembley.

Tottenham have played at Wembley all season while their new stadium, on the site of White Hart Lane, is being built.

"Now it's an advantage?" Spurs boss said. "Whereas before it was a disadvantage. Remember the Wembley hoodoo?

"I laugh, but it's not an advantage. Because we are playing at a stadium that is massive motivation for our opponent to have the opportunity to play there.

"But it's true that now the team is feeling good, comfortable. Yes, we start to feel like it's like home."

Well Spurs' players will probably be more comfortable then

  4. 'The home of football'published at 19:26 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2018

    Spurs v Rochdale (19:45 GMT)

    BBC Radio 5 live

More from Rochdale manager Keith Hill: "I've got a quiet excitement but I'm trying to stay calm and making sure we don't have any nervous energy.

"There's bound to some excitement, this is the home of football. It's an unbelievable place to be at. All our families are here. I came to the old Wembley as a player and I've been to the new Wembley as a manager. What an asset we've got.

"Prior to playing Tottenham last week, there was no fear or apprehension. Now we've played them the players might have that, so I've encouraged them to get back to having that mentality they had a week ago, to fill them with confidence and belief.

"A lot of my players would have been the best player in the playground at school, so I've said to them 'why not be the best player at Wembley today?'"

    Spurs v Rochdale (19:45 GMT)

    BBC Radio 5 live

Rochdale manager Keith Hill on BBC Radio 5 live: "If you want to watch football played with the philosophy and at the tempo I like to see it played then you watch Man City, Liverpool and Tottenham.

"Over the last few years I think Tottenham have accumulated the most points, they've been the best, the most consistent, and the way they play football is a joy to watch.

"If I was geographically located somewhere different in England then I'd definitely watch Tottenham on a more regular basis, as a fan."

Rochdale midfielder Callum Camps: “It’s every kid’s dream to play at Wembley. Not many players will get the chance to play there, so it’s going to be a good occasion for me and the club.

“Most of the young lads that are here are grounded and we won’t be fazed by it. We’ve played in big games before, so while we’ll enjoy it, we won’t be overawed by it. It’s a special occasion but we’re not just going there for a day out, we’re going there to try and win the game.”

Rochdale's players have been out on the famous Wembley pitch taking souvenir pictures and selfies.

This is only the club's second visit to the venue having lost the League Two play-off final to Stockport in 2008.

"We've given the players 15 to 20 minutes prior to team-sheets going in to take selfies and take in Wembley," Hill told BBC Sport.

"But once the team-sheet is handed in, it's real focus."

Incidentally, Hill has chosen to stick with his trademark flat cap and coat for Wembley - the same attire he has worn all season.

"Suits are for funerals and weddings," he added.

It's a great opportunity for Rochdale. There's no pressure in terms of expectation from anyone, except from inside that changing room and maybe the odd Rochdale fan, but that's maybe dreams rather than expectation. Whatever Rochdale accomplish here it's a win-win for them.

  14. At Wembley on a school nightpublished at 19:00 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2018

    Spurs v Rochdale (19:45 GMT)

    Neil Johnston
    BBC Sport at Wembley

Daniel Adshead was not even born when the old Wembley closed in 2000 yet the 16-year-old schoolboy midfielder makes the Rochdale bench at the national stadium.

Steve Davies, whose injury-time goal earned the League One club this replay, is again on the bench as Keith Hill sticks with the same 11 that started at Spotland 10 days ago.

Will Ian Henderson add to his tally of six FA Cup goals this season?

Mauricio Pochettino will hope to give Harry Kane and Dele Alli a night off with a Premier League match against Huddersfield on Saturday followed by Juventus' visit in the Champions League next Wednesday.

    Both are on the bench.

  15. Team newspublished at 18:57 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2018

    Spurs v Rochdale (19:45 GMT)

Mauricio Pochettino has made nine changes to the side which narrowly beat Crystal Palace on Sunday.

There are also two new faces from the Spurs team which Rochdale faced two weeks ago.

Eric Dier and Erik Lamela come in, while the injured Toby Alderweireld and Victor Wanyama drop out.

Tottenham XI: Vorm (C), Trippier, Dier, Foyth, Rose, Sissoko, Winks, Lamela, Son, Lucas, Llorente.

Keith Hill has named the same team which secured that impressive draw with Tottenham at Spotland.

There are two changes from the Rochdale side which suffered their latest League One defeat to Wigan though - Joe Rafferty and Stephen Humphrys replacing Scott Wiseman and Oliver Rathbone.

Rochdale XI: Lillis, Rafferty, McNulty, McGahey, Humphrys, Camps, Done, Delaney, Cannon, Kitching, Henderson (C)

  16. Staff work hard to get game onpublished at 18:55 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2018

    Spurs v Rochdale (19:45 GMT)

    George Cummins
BBC Radio 5 live at Wembley

Despite the poor weather in London the game goes ahead.

At lunchtime the ‘Beast from the East’ had covered the Wembley pitch in snow. Groundstaff have been working round the clock to get the game on. FA staff working here even came out to clear the pitch to help get the game on.

Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are both missing for Tottenham. The club said yesterday they are short-term injuries but you wonder whether Alderweireld will be back for Tottenham’s match with Juventus in the Champions League next Wednesday.

Pochettino has used this competition to give several fringe players a run out. We are expecting more of the same tonight.

We are on air on 5 Live Sport at 19:00 GMT with Mark Chapman, Alistair Bruce-Ball and Mark Schwarzer.

It's a bitterly cold evening at Wembley but that has not stopped 5,146 Rochdale fans - their league average gate is around 3,000 - from travelling to see their team take on Spurs in a deserved replay.

Games like this don't come round too often for Dale hence a convoy of 17 official supporters coaches snaking down the M6 and M1 to the national stadium in midweek.

Rochdale have prepared for the game by training at St George's Park, the FA's national football centre at Burton, on a pitch with the same measurements as Wembley.

And Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino certainly isn't underestimating the League One club after the dramatic events in the first game between the two clubs.

"Rochdale certainly played like a team that deserves to be higher in their division and we should expect the same level from them again," writes Pochettino in his programme notes.

"We will need to be strong to make it into the quarter-finals of this competition."
