I'm looking at Raheem Sterling and thinking what a transformation since the Euros, and I think we have to put a lot of that down to Pep Guardiola.

There are around 5,000 England fans inside the stadium. They are all gathered on the upper tier behind the Netherlands goal. After a quiet opening, they are just starting to find their voices.

So after that furore about why a right-back was playing left-sided centre-back (Joe Gomez) when an in-form centre-back was on the bench (Harry Maguire), we end up with what everyone wanted after just 10 minutes.

Gomez's night is unfortunately cut short, Maguire - who has started England's past three matches - gets another chance to impress.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain stings the palms of Dutch keeper Jeroen Zoet as England remain down to 10 men temporarily. Looks like Joe Gomez's night is done and Harry Maguire is going to replace him.

Another minute, another England injury. Not what Gareth Southgate wants to see. This time it is Joe Gomez who needs treatment, going down after being caught on his left ankle in an aerial challenge.

He gives a knowing look to the physio. The 'I'm done for here' kind of look.

It's been a positive start by England, they're looking to pass the ball wide and sharp.

If they can do that, they'll have a chance to get balls into the box.

Danny Rose is back on his feet and charging down the left flank. The Tottenham man wins a corner for England, only for the Dutch to easily clear a poor delivery.

"It's coming home, it's coming home, it's coming..." rings out for the first time.

Straight away there is a stoppage as Danny Rose gets clattered by a shoulder-barge from Dutch defender Hans Hateboer. The England left-back could have a shiner there.

Rose got clattered on the cheekbone, needing some gentle dabbing from the England physio. Nothing broken it seems, just bruised. They breed them hard in Doncaster...

Finally someone pulls the plug on the decks, and the next sound we hear is the referee's whistle. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who perhaps listens to Little Mix more than dance music, kicks off...
