GOAL - Turkey 1-0 Republic of Irelandpublished at 18:41 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March 2018

    Mehmet Topal (52 mins)

We can't say it hasn't been coming. Martin O'Neill won't be too pleased about the way his team have conceded though. A simple cross from the left bye-line into a packed box, one swing of the chocolate leg by Mehmet Topal and the ball flies into the Irish goal.

Kyle Walker as a right-sided centre-back is an interesting call too. And, as expected, Jordan Pickford gets the nod between the sticks. His shirt to lose?

    Thoughts?

  5. KICK-OFFpublished at 18:36 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March 2018

    Turkey 0-0 Republic of Ireland

We're rolling again in Turkey. Republic of Ireland will be hoping to see more of the ball in the second 45 minutes than they did in the first...

    Netherlands v England (19:45 GMT)

    Ian Dennis
Radio 5 live senior football reporter

Gareth Southgate said yesterday he wanted to look at different combinations and players in different positions.

With that in mind, Kyle Walker will play on the right side of a three-man defence.

Sterling and Rashford play together upfront in a 3-5-2 formation.

Scotland v Costa Rica (19:45 GMT)

Surely it can't get any worse than that for Big 'Eck tonight?!

McLeish has named an inexperienced squad for tonight's friendly against a side which will go to Russia this summer.

Nine players - including Manchester United's Scott McTominay - are hoping to make their Scotland debuts.

Scotland v Costa Rica (19:45 GMT)

"Again, against a nation we are expected to beat, we come a cropper..."

Rueful words, delivered with more than a hint of embarrassment, from the BBC Scotland commentator as Scotland, with Alex McLeish playing centre-half, embarrassed by Costa Rica at the 1990 World Cup...

Talking of perennially-cold cities... Glasgow is also of interest to us tonight. That's because Scotland are hosting Costa Rica at Hampden Park later.

And guess who's back? Big 'Eck's back.

Alex McLeish returns to the Scotland dugout for the first game of his second spell in charge against a side which gave him nightmares as a player...

  10. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:18 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March 2018

    Turkey 0-0 Republic of Ireland

Goalless at the break in Antalya. The Turks have been the more fluent team but have largely been confined to pot-shots from distance. Republic debutant Scott Hogan had the best chance while the visitors had a penalty shout just before half-time after Sean Maguire appeared to be upended in the box by Hasan Ali Kaldirim.

Our BBC Radio 5 live colleagues are already set up inside the Johan Cruyff Arena, ready and waiting for the teamsheets to arrive. Looks a little chilly too, hope they've got a tasty Dutch waffle to warm them up...

Scott Hogan's admittedly great chance apart, the Turks have been on top in Antalya. The Irish just cannot get on the ball at the moment.

    Turkey 0-0 Republic of Ireland

Oh my word! Gokhan Gönül's fierce cross from the right flank is missed by Shane Duffy's diving header and flashes across the face of the Republic of Ireland goal. No idea what happened there. Perhaps Colin Doyle shouted to leave it... Duffy did. Big let off for the visitors.

    Turkey 0-0 Republic of Ireland

Ticking towards the half-hour mark in Turkey... and we haven't got much to report. Oh, hang on.... Turkey are on the attack.

Colin Doyle has to be alert to beat away a fierce, low shot from outside of the Republic of Ireland box.

    Russia 0-3 Brazil

An easy win for Brazil and not the result World Cup hosts Russia will have been looking for!

Goals from Miranda, Philippe Coutinho and Paulinho within 13 second-half minutes seal the deal for the South Americans.

Brazil's next friendly is against Germany on Tuesday in Berlin, while Russia face France in St Petersburg.

We all love a retro football shirt, don't we? So let's have some fun while we build up to kick-off in Amsterdam... show us your old-school kits.

I somehow still manage to squeeze into this Leeds United 1994-95 number, modelled below by Brian Deane and Chris Fairclough, despite being in primary school at the time. They must have been baggy because I've definitely grown.

    World Cup retro kits

Wander around your local shopping mall on a weekend and you'll notice that the 1990s are back. Teenage lads with floppy hair and baggy sportswear, girls wearing chokers and mesh tops.

But it's not only the High Street which is taking inspiration from life almost 30 years ago. So too are the football designers.

Germany, Argentina, Colombia and Nigeria are among the nations who will be wearing eye-catching, 90s-inspired kits this summer.

Check out this piece from our friends at BBC Three on how Russia is going retro.

Almost a dream start for Scott Hogan. The Republic of Ireland debutant is sent scampering clear of the Turkey defence by a perfect throughball, dancing around the goalkeeper but only able to fire into the side-netting from an acute angle.

Unfortunately you have another hour to wait until the team is revealed....
