What a chance! Richarlison's free-kick is parried by Petr Cech, with an unmarked Roberto Pereyra following up. Unmarked from the edge of the six-yard box, he blasts over.

Arsene Wenger is wearing a grey cardigan over a white-shirt-and-red-tie combo. He looks like he's going for his first holy communion. Watford are coming back into this one, enjoying more of the ball. Arsenal pressing sends them all the way back to Orestis Karnezis, though.

Hand on heart, how many of us can say that they would recognise Axel Witsel? Impressive.

It has the promise of being a good game. Arsenal are getting forward and have taken the lead, and Watford have got into good areas twice and should have made more of them.

It's the sort of game that makes you wonder why Arsenal have so many problems. Then again, Watford are helping them look half-decent, too. Lots of space, Arsenal knocking it about, no sign of a challenge. Space down the left, ball comes in, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang turns it in if he's an inch or two taller.

David Thackeray: In 1959, or thereabouts, I met Tommy Banks the great Bolton full back on Sutton station the morning after a match in London. He was carrying his boots in a see through plastic bag. He must have got on the wrong train.

Looking again at the goal, I may have been harsh on the Watford defence. Two defenders did sort of jump with Mustafi, but you'd have struggled to get a wet newspaper between them and the ground. From eight yards out, the header was back across goal, inside the keeper's right-hand post.

For stats fans, that was Arsenal's 1,000th home goal in the Premier League era (when football began). At the other end, Petr Cech has to save from Abdoulaye Doucouré.

Mustafi wouldn't be the only person who's been fraught defensively for Arsenal this season. But he does get goals when he goes forward, and yet again, that's a wonderful header across goal. He gave the keeper no chance. He's a good finisher with his head.

Easy as you like. An absolute doddle. Watford's defence may as well have not been there. Mesut Ozil's free-kick from the left, Shkodran Mustafi rising as if he as the freedom of north London and the header nestles into the net.

They've got Ozil in the middle, in that number 10 role, and he's already played that ball through for Aubameyang. That's where you want him. Get him on the ball and get him playing. I reckon it's 4-2-3-1 for Arsenal.

I once saw Gustavo Poyet at a computer shop in Colnbrook. I think he was there as a guest for the launch, but he seemed genuinely interested in buying a Lexmark printer.

Early chance. Mesut Ozil's pass, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang running on, off the shoulder of the last defender. Through on goal, but the shot saved by the legs of Orestis Karnezis.
