    They have a corner....

    Any touch? Any! None.

The ball just eludes Nick Powell at the back post.

  6. WATCH: Højbjerg giving Southampton the leadpublished at 15:01 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2018

Southampton could have gone two up from the penalty spot.

But as it stands Højbjerg's goal is the difference between the two sides.

    Wigan 0-1 Southampton

    Pat Nevin

Often you see penalty saves and think the are pretty good. That was absolutely off the scale. How brilliant was that? He flung himself to his left to stop that. One of the best saves I have seen in years.

Being a Wigan fan I was at the City game and it would be so sad to lose today after that performance. Southampton look a lot more cohesive, Wigan certainly want it more but Southampton quality may tell as the game wears on

The hairs are up on the back of my neck because that is just a wonderful save. Outstanding! That was incredible wasn't it?

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 73 mins

    Wigan 0-1 Southampton

    Brilliant!

Christian Walton plunges to his left and palms Manolo Gabbiadini's rocket spot-kick round the post.

An astonishing save. He must have wrists of titanium.

    Wigan 0-1 Southampton

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 live

You can't help put think that Wigan might have to get some more help up to Will Grigg. He can fight and battle and score on his own, but if they are to find a route back into the game he needs more support.

  13. Postpublished at 70 mins

    Wigan 0-1 Southampton

This is going to be a helter-skelter last 20 minutes.

Wigan are pressing forward. They are not going to die wondering. And why should they? They have been the better side for most of this match.

Southampton have the quality to exploit space on the break as well.

Nick: Thoroughly undeserved but has been coming. Hope Wigan can get the equaliser that they deserve - it suspect a sucker punch second at some time.

Samuel: Wigan should be at least 2-0 up before that goal. There going to be disappointed with those missed chances. Can't see Wigan getting back into this now.

  15. 'Hughes deserves credit'published at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2018

    Wigan 0-1 Southampton

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 live

You almost do not recognise them from the first half. Southampton deserve that goal, they have created some good chances and played super football in the second half.

Well done Mark Hughes for changing it.

  16. 'Massive goal for Saints'published at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2018

    Wigan 0-1 Southampton

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on BBC One

It is a massive goal from Southampton. Wigan just went to sleep. How it finds its way into the back of the net from there is unbelievable. It just creeps through a group of players! You have to give Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg credit there.

  17. WATCH: Michael Jacobs' shot goes just wide of the goalpublished at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2018

    Wigan 0-1 Southampton

Southampton have just gone ahead, after some heavy pressure.

But earlier Wigan had the first meaningful effort of the second half through Michael Jacobs.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 65 mins

    Wigan 0-1 Southampton

Both managers shuffle the pack in the wake of that opening goal.

Mark Hughes takes off the ineffectual Sofiane Boufal and slings the energy of Nathan Redmond into the mix.

Paul Cook who ruled Nick Powell out of the match with a dodgy hamstring earlier in the week, has put the former Manchester United man on in play of Gavin Massey.

Ryan Colclough is on in place of Gary Roberts as well.

  19. goal

GOAL - Wigan 0-1 Southamptonpublished at 62 mins

    Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

It is against the run of play, it is a scrappy old piece of penalty-area pinball, but Saints won't care about either.

    They are in front.

Dusan Tadic's curling corner delivery is stabbed goalwards by Pierre Emile Hojbjerg and Dan Burn on the line cannot keep it out.

  20. Postpublished at 60 mins

    Wigan 0-0 Southampton

Southampton are showing more ambition in the second half.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg bullets a header goalwards which is turned over the top smartly by Christian Walton.
