Roma v Liverpool (Wed, 19:45 BST)

Tottenham moved within a point of third-placed Liverpool with victory tonight but their top-four rivals have been distracted with European football.

They take on Roma in their Champions League semi-final second leg on Wednesday with a 5-2 aggregate lead after a sensational performance at Anfield.

Manager Jurgen Klopp said: "We created a basis and now we have to finish it. There are a few things to do.

"Let's play the next game, try to make the best of it, then we'll see."

Tottenham full-back Kieran Trippier, who is presented with the Man of the Match award, speaking to Sky Sports: "We didn't play that well in the first half. We were moving the ball too slow and they had opportunities to score.

"We wanted to start quicker in the second half and the most important thing was the three points.

"The gaffer wants the full-backs to play high. I know Harry Kane will get into the box so I just try to pick him out. We have players who can create so much in the team.

"Every opportunity, I just try to do my best for the team and I'm happy I was able to set up Kane this evening.

"It was a disappointing result [against Manchester United] because we wanted to go to the final but today we know we needed to win. No matter how you do it, you know you need to win.

On his clash with Richarlison: "I asked him if he was OK and he said yes. He has a nasty cut on the back of his head and I have a nice bruise."

Wayne: Watford are just not good enough to sustain another season in the Premier. They lack quality required to be there. Don't blame the manager, it's those on the pitch that get results.

  5. 'Lloris one of the world's best'published at 22:23 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    Tottenham 2-0 Watford

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino speaking to Sky Sports:

"I think it was a good night for us. It was important to get the three points as it allows us to be in a good position. It was a must-win game - so important for us. Perhaps we did not play in the way we wanted but got three points.

"During the whole season, 10 months, it is hard to keep playing good football. Watford are a difficult opponent, they played well, created great chances.

"Hugo Lloris was fantastic and showed why he is one of the best in the world. I am happy, three points puts us in a good position.

"The team came back from a difficult loss. They were disappointed after Manchester United. Watford were free to play, no pressure, they are safe, for us it is a massive pressure to take three points.

"Three games ahead, I think we are in a good siutation. To win the games and finish in the top four for the first time [consecutively] would be great for the club."

Lotak: We were not good and if Watford weren't experiencing such a goal drought, the game could have been very very different. But, we took (some of) our chances and got the win we desperately needed COYS.

  7. 'We can get those three points'published at 22:20 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    FT: Tottenham 2-0 Watford

    Watford

Javi Garcia speaking to BBC Sport: "When the game finished, you could see we didn't score and didn't get points which is frustrating.

"I'm sure we can get more points and more goals in the next game. There were a lot of situations when I arrived but we have tried to improve the position in the Premier League.

"We want to get those three points."

  8. 'I feel good'published at 22:18 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    Tottenham 2-0 Watford

    Tottenham Hotspur

More from Kane on his goalscoring form: "I feel good. I’d like to have played better in the last few games, same of the team, but I feel good, feel sharp and could have scored more. Hopefully I can finish strong like I did last season going into a big summer.

"I try to improve every year. Last year I got 29 goals so I’d like to beat that but we’ll see what happens. In my mind I'm trying to get to that 30 mark."

  9. 'We had to waitpublished at 22:16 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    FT: Tottenham 2-0 Watford

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham goalscorer Harry Kane speaking to Sky Sports:

"It was OK, but obviously important we won. We could have played better in the first half, could have moved it a bit quicker and we were lucky to be ahead thanks to Hugo [Lloris].

"In the second half we played a bit better but still could have played it quicker, especially between the lines. But we needed to win to ease the pressure and we did that.

"It feels like ages since we last played - eight days. Our form has not been the best and when that happens you want to play. We had to wait.

"We started a bit slow but we won which is what we're happy about. Three games left, we win them all hopefully and then we're up to third."

Tottenham have scored in each of their last 23 Premier League games, their longest scoring run in the top-flight since April 1987 (26 games).

Harry Kane made his 150th appearance in the Premier League. In those games Kane has netted 105 goals; only Alan Shearer managed more in his first 150 in the competition (121).

Kieran Trippier has notched one goal and five assists in his six top-flight appearances against Watford.

Watford have now gone seven Premier League away games without scoring (D1 L6).

Watford are a bunch of individuals, they get broken down too easily. Without that togetherness they leak goals. In midfield they are either brilliant or shocking, and those inconsistencies are baffling fans.

    Tottenham 2-0 Watford

    Jermaine Jenas
Former England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was job done, it wasn't the most vintage performance. There was a lot of tension in the stadium that transmitted to the players. There were a few dodgy touches and passing was not on the money. They got three points which is the most important thing. They had Chelsea slowly creeping up on them too so they now have an opportunity to start looking upwards rather than behind them.

  14. A step closer for Spurspublished at 21:55 British Summer Time 30 April 2018

    FT: Tottenham 2-0 Watford

It wasn't a convincing performance from Tottenham by any means but they have three points and that will be more than enough for Mauricio Pochettino.

Harry Kane also goes within four goals of Mo Salah in the race for the Golden Boot.

Watford missed an opportunity to secure their safety in the Premier League and they have now gone eight games without a win away at Tottenham.

They remain in 13th place - six points clear of the relegation zone.

Andre Carrillo dances into the six yard area but is pushed slightly too wide. His shot from a tight angle is well saved by Hugo Lloris and the keeper is on hand again just seconds later when Gerard Deulofeu's rebounded effort takes a slight deflection off Jan Vertonghen.
