Joseph: Will Hughes needs a chance in the England team.

Josh: Will Hughes: should go to the world cup, but wont because he doesn't play for one of the "bigger" teams in the league.

Will Hughes is a good player, technically very good. His injuries have been tough ones, but they chuck him straight in, when he is fit which shows his quality. Today, the level he brings to this side, when the ball goes into him he sees pictures. He has all the elements you want a player playing off the striker to have.

Nick: Watford definitely look like they have a goal or two in them.

Anon: As a Chelsea fan, I would like for Watford to start taking their chances.

A weird first half. The side that deserved to go in 1-0 are but Watford have got a bit in them too.

Tottenham were dominant for the majority of that first half but Watford certainly had the better chances.

Should they have done better? Do Watford deserve to be in front? Or would 1-1 have been a better reflection after that first half?

Christian Eriksen tries to find the run of Dele Alli but it's snuffed out in time by Orestis Karnezis.

And that will be the last action of the first half.

Spurs were absolutely all over the place there. Doucoure has to do better, Will Hughes plays him in, he sets off, and he is awaiting, Lloris comes out, and does enough. But Doucoure should have been quicker.

    Tottenham 1-0 Watford

Richarlison drives forward as Spurs leave space in behind but he's denied by Hugo Lloris. It's another good effort for Watford - they have had their chances!

Abdoulaye Doucoure is in just seconds later too but Lloris comes charging out of the box - speeding towards the halfway line - to slide in and clear it for a throw-in.

Risky challenge from the Spurs keeper but he did so well.

Watford have only had rare glimpses on goal but when they have attacked, it has been purely down the left-hand side (as the heatmap shows.)

Kieran Trippier isn't having any of it though, and he has done well to sniff out any danger.

Tom: Gareth Southgate has to consider Will Hughes for a place on the plane to Russia.

Spurs win a corner off another Kieran Trippier delivery and when the ball is played into Jan Vertonghen, he is given two attempts to shoot. But both are well blocked and Watford get it clear.

Will Hughes has been excellent and it's his clever flick which plays in Abdoulaye Doucoure in the box.

The Watford man runs into a bit of traffic but tries to find a yard to shoot - and he eventually does - but it's straight at Hugo Lloris.

Hughes is fuming because he was running onto the ball and appeared to be in a better position to pull off the shot.

Ben Davies is penalised for a high boot on Will Hughes. Watford take their time over the free-kick, trying to get their breath back. They have been chasing shadows for most parts of the first half.

That goal was a bad reflection of Karnezis because he has played well. Watford need to start countering on Tottenham's mistakes.

Pochetino has done an amazing job and I can understand why the powers that be want to balance the books. But we keep losing top players with this strict wage structure. Its got to change if Spurs want to go to the next level.

Spurs are coming close to a second. Son Heung-min and Harry Kane are involved in the build-up again but the final ball into Dele Alli is just inches too long and it's gathered up by the Watford keeper.

Christian Eriksen isn't closed down quickly enough so he has time to lift his head up and have a pop from distance.

It's well hit but it flies narrowly wide and fails to trouble the keeper.
