TrickyGerman: I’ll be honest, I’d completely forgotten that Stuart Pearce even played for Newcastle... probably a bit like, in 30 years’ time, people trying to remember if Theo Walcott ever played for another team after Arsenal...

  4. Postpublished at 57 mins

    Everton 1-0 Newcastle

The game has really opened up now and there's a few tackles going in which are borderline legal.

Referee Bobby Madley has been consistent so far and has been reluctant to break-up play and as a result, there's a nice tempo and intensity to the game.

Ken: Gift. Only way they were gonna score.

Rob: Final third of the pitch NUFC have been disgraceful tonight, allowing a poor Everton team this much of the ball is not on, Perez back to his usual useless self.

  6. Postpublished at 55 mins

    Everton 1-0 Newcastle

Everton link-up well down the left before it's played in the middle towards Wayne Rooney. He has acres of space so shoots from distance but his strike is always going wide.

  7. Postpublished at 54 mins

    Everton 1-0 Newcastle

Kenedy slips as he brings the ball forward and tries to swallow it up with his hands when he hits the deck to deny an Everton break.

  8. 'Positive play from Bolasie'published at 21:09 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

    Everton 1-0 Newcastle

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Great play from Yannick Bolaise, really positive. He had one thought, to make ground up and get a ball in. Theo Walcott found himself all alone, great first touch, created another yard and hit it into the roof of the net. Goodison Park had gone wild, confidence starting to seep back in.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 51 mins

    Everton 1-0 Newcastle

Just before the goal, Morgan Schneiderlin went down injured and he's now gone off, looking a bit uncomfortable, as Tom Davies replaces him.

  10. goal

GOAL - Everton 1-0 Newcastlepublished at 50 mins

    Theo Walcott

Yannick Bolasie plays a deep ball into the box and Theo Walcott's first touch is excellent. He remains composed, delaying his shot before thumping it into the top of the net.

  11. CLOSE!published at 50 mins

    Everton 0-0 Newcastle

Sloppy play from Everton and Newcastle take advantage.

Kenedy chips it over to Ayoze Perez but the Newcastle midfielder's strike is always going wide under pressure from Michael Keane.

    Everton 0-0 Newcastle

Ayoze Perez gives the ball away again - he's not passing it well tonight - but he escapes punishment as referee Bobby Madley blows for a foul by Idrissa Gueye.

  13. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

    Everton 0-0 Newcastle

We're back underway. Hopefully we'll have 10 goals in the second half.

  14. Postpublished at 21:00 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

    Everton 0-0 Newcastle

Newcastle's touchmap below shows you they have only touched the ball three times in Everton's box.

But Everton, who have had almost 20 touches in the opposition area, have not had much more success - with both teams failing to record a shot on target.

We left three players out of the line-up - did you name them?

They were Stuart Pearce, Warren Barton and big Swede Andreas Andersson.
