    Everton v Newcastle (20:00 BST)

Rafa Benitez is no friend of Everton's after he spent six years in charge of Merseyside rivals Liverpool.

He guided them to Champions League and FA Cup success while there and only lost on three occasions out of 14 against Everton.

The Spaniard has also won his last four Premier League matches at Goodison Park - three with Liverpool and one with Chelsea.

It is his 100th game in charge of Newcastle this evening and he will be looking to seal it with another win against his old rivals.

Newcastle and Everton are both on course to finish in the top half of the Premier League table.

Rafa Benitez has earned praise for his reign on a low budget at Newcastle but Sam Allardyce has come under criticism.

But which manager outside the top six would you choose as your alternative boss? Are you an Everton fan craving Sean Dyche? Or would you take Benitez at Swansea? Perhaps Roy Hodgson gets your vote?

  4. Will both managers be here next season?published at 19:06 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

    Everton v Newcastle (20:00 BST)

    Alan Green
    Match of the Day commentator

"Thankfully, for the sake of both clubs, fears over relegation are now banished. Outsiders are left to ponder over the fate awaiting individuals, particularly the two managers.

"Sam Allardyce did the job he was brought in for. His organisation undoubtedly helped Everton regain their proper footing on the Premier League ladder. However, his 'style' clearly didn't bring him into the hearts of the club's supporters. How many want him retained as manager?

"There are no such concerns about Rafa Benitez. The Geordies adore him and rightly so. But he's still surely worried about Mike Ashley's ownership and whether he'll be given the resources to allow Newcastle to thrive as they should do.

"For different reasons, you can't be sure Allardyce and Benitez will still be in place next season."

  5. 'Allardyce had an opportunity to play good football'published at 19:02 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

    Everton v Newcastle (20:00 BST)

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

When Sam Allardyce was appointed it was to keep Everton in the Premier League. They were adrift, and something drastic had to be done immediately. He came in and did it almost instantly, and since December they were safe. That gave them the opportunity to start playing good football or look to develop into a team that plays good football, that hasn’t been the case.

They have not been scoring as many goals or creating chances and the fans would have wanted more.

  7. Newcastle can confirm safetypublished at 18:57 British Summer Time 23 April 2018

    Everton v Newcastle (20:00 BST)

Newcastle have won four consecutive Premier League games. They last won five in a row in November 2014 under Alan Pardew.

They have also lost just one of their last nine top-flight games and could confirm their safety if they avoid defeat this evening.

In contrast, Everton have gone three league games without a win and have come under fire for a series of unimpressive performances.

The Toffees are also 16 points worse off than at this stage last season and they've also scored 21 fewer goals.

But they are sat comfortably in ninth place and will already be looking ahead to next season.

Liverpool v Roma (Tues, 19:45 BST)

Jurgen Klopp has urged Liverpool supporters to "show respect" ahead of their Champions League semi-final first leg match against Roma at Anfield on Tuesday.

Cans, bottles and flares were thrown at Manchester City's bus as it arrived at the ground before the first leg of their quarter-final earlier this month.

"This is an outstanding club known for its fantastic atmosphere," said Klopp. "We don't need to throw things."

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said he was "happy to have the opportunity" of being Salah's manager and added it was an "unbelievable honour" to win the award.
