Nacho had his tracksuit top and bib off and looked really to come on, but he's got fully dressed again. Not sure exactly what's happening.

Bayern are really pressing for a goal. They've had 55% of the ball and keep squeezing Real when they're trying to pass it round the back.

Johnny: In case anyone is unaware, we are watching the best two fullbacks in the world tonight in Marcelo and Kimmich. They’re both instrumental to their teams and would absolutely stroll into any side right now. Wonderful to watch.

Think I've just seen Nacho warming up. The Real Madrid substitute is usually a centre-back but can play on the right. Is Zinedine Zidane reconsidering his Lucas Vazquez right-back experiment?

If Bayern had a killer touch in front of goal it would be over.

In the Bundesliga they seem to score every attack, in Europe it doesn't happen.

Cristiano Ronaldo swivels and shoots high and wide from the edge of the box. Two of the three shots on target so far have been goals.

There were 28 passes leading to Karim Benzema's goal.

Only Lucas Digne for Barcelona against Olympiakos had more in the Champions League this season (29).

So many passes for Benzema's goal that this pass graphic is a mess.

Real, since they scored, have been woeful, they can't put three passes together. That final ball from Bayern, it happened in the first leg, they can't find the pass they need.

Franck Ribery finds Thomas Muller, who is somehow free in the box, but his pass across the area can't find anyone.

Do they still call Muller the Raumdeuter (interpreter of space)?

47% of Bayern's moves are coming down the left - that's David Alaba and Franck Ribery v makeshift right-back Lucas Vazquez.

John: Benzema has repaid the faith Zinedine Zidane has shown in him. Has been berated left right & centre for the last two years that’ll will be forgotten now.

Jaz .Brilliant start by Munich. And a great response from Madrid. But I have a feeling Munich are going to exploit a weaker Real Madrid defence.

Bayern Munich need to score twice to go through - which was also the same at kick-off. One goal forces extra time.

Robert Lewandowski wants a penalty as he goes down under pressure from Sergio Ramos while trying to latch onto Corentin Tolisso's ball. Referee says no.

It has been a good response to that goal from Bayern, they have upped the tempo and are dictating the game.

A little flick by Cristiano Ronaldo to find Marco Asensio. Totally unnecessary but that's almost his first touch.

Karim Benzema races onto a through ball now but he's offside. Will that goal give him a new lease of life?

Corner to Bayern but Nikas Sule shoves Sergio Ramos over - and Real have a free out. Waste.

Got to say a very patient build up from Real Madrid. Got to be well over 30 passes. Marcelo get half a yard, that's all he needs, whips it in, and Benzema has got a free header.

    GOAL - Real Madrid 1-1 Bayern Munich (3-2 agg)published at 11 mins

    Karim Benzema

Karim Benzema has a first goal in open play since February and Real Madrid are level on the night and ahead on aggregate. A wonderful cross by Marcelo on the left takes defence and keeper out of the equation and Benzema is unmarked on the back post to head into an empty net.
