    Man City 0-0 Huddersfield

    Manchester City

Manchester City have had their usual sky-high proportion of possession.

But they have definitely not had it all their own way.

Huddersfield have matched them in terms of shots on target, two apiece.

A slightly underwhelming first half for the hosts.

A very encouraging one for the visitors.

City can do the heavy-duty defensive stuff as well as the tippy-tappy pretty things.

Nicolas Otamendi sends Huddersfield's Florent Hadergjonaj spinning like a top with a crunching sliding tackle.

It feels like City are trying to force it and Pep will want to get them in at half-time.

Credit to Huddersfield. David Wagner will go in as the happier manager if it stays 0-0.

    Man City 0-0 Huddersfield

Brilliant sunshine, a crowd ready for a party and an opposition that were expected to be Washington Generals-style patsies.

This game reminds me a little of the last day of the 2011-12 season when it took that goal from Sergio Aguero to overcome a stubborn relegation-threatened QPR and secure the title.

Huddersfield manager David Wagner is stood at the edge of his technical area stroking his beard. He clearly believes his plan is working so far, but can Town take one of these chances they are creating? They have been very impressive going forward.

    Man City 0-0 Huddersfield

Huddersfield allow Kyle Walker all the time in the world to deliver his cross from the left flank, gambling they have enough height to deal with whatever he can produce.

    They are right. Just.

A terrific swirling delivery zeroing in on Gabriel Jesus, but the Brazilian, eager to get up above the defence, has bitten off more than he can chew.

    His header flies over.

City are back on top and really asking questions of Huddersfield Town.

    Man City 0-0 Huddersfield

Kevin de Bruyne puts his foot through a shot from 20 yards and a tricky angle.

The ball files clean through a forest of limbs in the Huddersfield box though and an unsighted Jonas Lossl does well to beat it away.

Pep Guardiola has been getting heated about the lack of penalties given for fouls on Raheem Sterling recently.

That is another one for file of evidence.

Terence Kongolo appears to clip the England winger as he rushes across to help out Chris Lowe.

    Nothing doing from Mike Dean.

This is open. Both sides are swinging punches in attack and keeping their guard low in defence.

Huddersfield carving out chances and it is Aaron Mooy who is wielding the scapel.

The Australian midfielder lofts a clever ball into the path of Alex Pritchard, whose cross is deflected back out to edge of the area.

Mooy shapes to shoot as the ball arrives at his feet, before slipping a lovely ball to the over-lapping Chris Lowe instead.

The wing-bank loads up on power, but spanks his shot over the top as he attempts to hammer into the top corner at Ederson's near post.

Better from Manchester City, who have been kept quiet in attack after a fast start.

Gabriel Jesus spins down a channel on the left flank and gets in behind.

Raheem Sterling has cleverly taken up the central role in the Brazilian's place, but the cross is just behind him.

Michael Oduor: Manchester City deserves all the praise. Clearly superior in all aspects. Stand up for the champions.

Nokeeroe: It looks to me as though Huddersfield are on top at the Etihad. Could there be an upset on the cards?

By the way, the Etihad Stadium alarm system has misfired, giving us a brief burst of PA bing-bongs and ringing bells in some bits of the stadium.

The Huddersfield fans sing "is this a fire drill?" - a legitimate question, but they would be better contacting their nearest steward.

Anyway, they are soon back to giving former Leeds man Fabian Delph some stick.

This is a testament to how David Wagner has set them up. They are pressing high. They are going to be beaten due to the quality of City, but the chances have been limited.

Hats off to Huddersfield. They are in the game and over the last 10 minuets they are on top.

  18. GREAT SAVE!published at 20 mins

    Man City 0-0 Huddersfield

Huddersfield are having a right old pop at City. They are determined to rain on the title parade and take something from this.

Alex Pritchard, who has been pushed forward in the visitors' midfield, hits a dipping 25-yarder which a sprawling Ederson just about manages to tip away.

Leroy Sane cuts the ball back to the edge of the box where Kevin de Bruyne is sharpening his shooting boots.

The Belgian wraps his instep around the ball, producing a swerving daisycutter.

Not quite enough bite though as it fizzes just wide with Jonas Lossl looking on helpless.
