Never mind the Premier League trophy and the various individual gongs though.

Manchester City have landed their very own WWE belt.

Obviously just a marketing stunt, but if you are going to put diamante on it you have my airtime.

Peer closely through that forest of phones in the above photo and you can just make out Leroy Sane stepping off the team bus.

The 22-year-old German will get his hands on the Premier League trophy later along with the rest of the City team but he will be the only one presented with an individual accolade to mark his stunning season - the PFA Young Player of the Year award.

Peter Barnes - the only other City player to win the award, back in 1976 - is the man who will hand it over later, and was among the welcoming committee when Sane emerged into the Mancunian sunshine.

"It will give me great pleasure to present the award to Leroy - he thoroughly deserves it," Barnes told the waiting crowd. "What a season he has had, and he can get even better too."

    Everton 1-1 Southampton

    Frank Lampard
Former Chelsea & England midfielder on MOTD

I understand Mark Hughes raging. Southampton worked incredibly hard, were organised and got themselves in front.

Nathan Redmond wins the ball cleanly and the referee gets it wrong. It's then two mistakes because the ball isn't played from where it should be. It gives Everton one last push.

Everton didn't really deserve anything from the game. Typically, when you're in the position Southampton are in, it takes a nasty deflection and it's one point instead of three.

So cruel you could start a Christmas charity appeal about events at Goodison yesterday.

Southampton were leading 1-0 and on their way to three precious points with five of the four advertised minutes of injury time already elapsed.

With the last meaningful kick of the game Tom Davies' shot finds the back of the Saints' net via a nick off a defender.

    Ouch.

Tom Shanahan: Man United treble team from 1999, Man United between 2006-2009, Arsenal's Invincibles, Chelsea between 2005-07 are all better than Man City's current team. They either won multiple titles or did better in Champions League, or were unbeaten.

Jake: My top five Premier League teams are: 1. Man United 1999, 2. Man United 2008, 3. Arsenal's Invincibles, 4. Chelsea 2004 and 5. Leicester 2013.

    Stoke City 1-2 Crystal Palace

    Frank Lampard
Former Chelsea & England midfielder on MOTD

The game was a midfielders' nightmare for the Stoke boys. The consequence of a deep defensive line means you have a lot of ground to cover.

There was too much space and no pressure on the ball.

You can see the fear in the Stoke defenders when Zaha runs at them and they back off.

It's impossible to win games playing like that. On that performance you can see why they're in the position they ended up in.

Over at the Bet365 Stadium yesterday, there were tears.

  12. 1,456 days later... City prepare to hoist the Premier League trophy high againpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

Man City v Huddersfield (13:30 BST)

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

It is 1,456 days since Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany last lifted the Premier League trophy and, during his many months on the sidelines during the past four years, he must have wondered if he would ever do it again.

Kompany will start the title celebrations later and it is certainly the right weather for a party in the blue half of Manchester today - baking hot and barely a cloud in the sky - which is definitely a City shade of blue.

Plenty of home fans are showing off their 'Champions 18' shirts... and the team will be wearing them when Kompany hoists the trophy high at the final whistle.

It's the third year on the bounce Bournemouth have stayed up. Their mentality was questioned but they picked it up again to get the win.

  15. 'Swans lacked composure'published at 12:27 British Summer Time 6 May 2018

    Bournemouth 1-0 Swansea

    Frank Lampard
Former Chelsea & England midfielder on MOTD

When you're in a relegation battle concentration is key. They needed to send a player out to stop Ryan Fraser. The reaction is too late. It was a crazy moment at half time which swung the game.

Swansea's reaction to the goal was disappointing. They lacked composure. The forwards didn't know what the midfielders were doing and vice versa.

Swansea manager Carlos Carvalhal was in confident mood despite their defeat away to Bournemouth yesterday that, combined with Southampton's draw at Everton, saw the Swans slide south into the relegation zone.

Swansea play Southampton on Tuesday and already-relegated Stoke on Sunday, both at the Liberty Stadium.

    "I'm not worried," said Carvalhal.

"My team play better at home, the fans can make a big impact and we believe we can do it on Tuesday. It will be a game which will decide things."

The Match of the Day pundits were not so sure.

They are undoubtedly up there as one of the best Premier League teams in history. How do they rank in your estimation?

Above the three-headed attacking beast that was the Rooney-Ronaldo-Tevez Manchester United side of 2006-09?

What about the Arsenal Invincibles of 2003-04, driven Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry and Robert Pires?

Or Jose's first Chelsea team, with Damien Duff and Arjen Robben flying down the wings and John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho locking things down in defence?

Manchester City have the trophy gift-wrapped and ready to go.

But they are still shooting for a place in history.

Victory today would move them to 96 points - one more than the previous Premier League record set by Chelsea in 2004-05.

It would be their 31st Premier League win of the season - another new record.

Score twice in doing so and they would beat the 103 Premier League mark set by Chelsea in 2009-10.
