The team news from West Ham is that... there is no news. David Moyes sticks with the same XI that drew 0-0 against Manchester United on Thursday. Let's hope they can serve up something better than that this afternoon...

Veteran defender James Collins and striker Javier Hernandez return to the bench.

The first 11 are brilliant – but they need to beat the bigger teams more regularly and win a trophy.

My worry is if a trophy doesn't come and Real Madrid or Barcelona come calling – if you’re Harry Kane, how do you stay at Spurs for the rest of your life if you're not winning trophies and Zinedine Zidane says 'we’re selling Benzema and we want to sign you for £200m'?

They were unlucky in the Champions League – not many people would have expected them to get out of a group containing Real and Borussia Dortmund. Juventus was a toss-of-the-coin game. It was very unfortunate. Max Allegri made a couple of brilliant substitutions which changed the game.

But without spending millions, how do they find a better player to go into their starting 11?

Given time Jose Mourinho will try to chase down Manchester City but I don’t think it’ll happen. He won’t be able to grind to a Premier League title the way Manchester City are playing. So he needs to change. I read an article from him where he said he won’t change – but he has to.

Of course, ideally we would like to be scoring the first goal instead of chasing games next season."

Former Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 live

Wayne Rooney's numbers aren’t bad – about one goal every three games and he’s playing deep now. He’s still scoring and creating but can he do it to the level he wants?

It’s unfair to compare him to the player he was five years ago. There’s a lot of miles on that clock. He was a stunning player in the past.

I think he’s got another year left on him in the Premier League, if managed properly.

He's got the physique that was a help for him in the early days - but it’s the type of physique that could easily have blown up and put on a few stones if he didn’t take care of himself properly.

West Ham v Everton (15:00 BST)

    John Roder
    Match of the Day commentator

West Ham and Everton will surely want to consign this season to the history books.

It's been an unsatisfactory and sometimes turbulent campaign, with both clubs changing managers in an attempt to make progress.

Injury has denied Wayne Rooney the chance to make a possible Premier League farewell before a move to MLS in the United States, while David Moyes may be in charge of West Ham for the final time.

Everton will finish in the top 10, while West Ham only secured their Premier League place last weekend. The end-of-season report for both clubs probably is 'could and should do better'.
