Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

Wayne Rooney has played top level football for 20 years – I can’t remember him picking up too many big injuries bar a broken metatarsal. He’s played nigh on 40 games a season for 20 years.

When you look at the world's best like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, it’s very hard to live up to those. Comparing him to those greats is unfair. Compare him to Premier League greats, and I’d say he’s top three.

When we took over, we were on nine points in the bottom three. People might have thought it was a risk for West Ham to take David Moyes – but I didn’t think it was. It was a risk for me to take a job in the bottom three.

I think there’s been several turning points. The first one was putting Marko Arnautovic as centre forward, maybe he wasn’t doing as much and tracking back on the wing. He’s been a sensation up front, he’s been playing as well as most strikers.

That made a big difference. The other point was the game against Burnley when the fans ran on the pitch. We went away afterwards and that was maybe the bravest thing I’ve done – the players pulled together and since we came back we picked up a lot of points.

West Ham v Everton (15:00 BST)

Bournemouth keeper Asmir Begovic on BBC Radio 5 live: "It’s not the worst time of Wayne Rooney's career to move to America – he can still make an impact on the field.

"One of the most impressive things about him is his longevity. He could have a couple of years left if he’s managed right. Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, they started playing fewer games every season."

Luke RIchards: Cardiff 11/10. Surpassed all the odds and doubters who said we'd fall away. Neil Warnock 11/10 took us from 23rd in the Championship to the Premier League in 81 games.

Sean Morrison best player. Absolute rock at the back. There is no worst player.

Southampton v Man City (15:00 BST)

    Frank Lampard
Former Chelsea & Man City midfielder

We asked Frank Lampard to compare this season's Man City team with the Chelsea team of 2004-5...

Manchester City have broken Chelsea's record for most points in a Premier League season and there is no team since us that has deserved to do it more.

The champions have been so dominant for huge parts of the season and it would be a great contest if they could play our Chelsea side - we reached 95 points in 2004-05 - because of the contrasting styles.

City have more fluency in terms of passing - their possession football is some of the best the Premier League has seen and they press higher and smother teams more than we did.

However, we get a raw deal in history in terms of the quality of our play that year. Some people say it was a bit methodical, but it wasn't. We were fantastic. We had lots of possession and quick wingers, as well as a real toughness about us and a spirit that gave us an edge.

It is tough to decide which team would win but here is my combined XI...

  9. 'A 90-minute distraction for Stoke'published at 13:14 British Summer Time 13 May 2018

    Swansea v Stoke (15:00 BST)

    Alistair Mann
    MOTD commentator

Even before it has been mathematically confirmed, it seems that the inquest into Swansea's impending demise has already begun, with both manager Carlos Carvalhal and long-serving pair Angel Rangel and Leon Britton among the first to depart.

Huddersfield's point at Chelsea on Wednesday meant all three promoted clubs have now survived, with Swansea (seven years) and opponents Stoke (10 years) left with the realisation that continuous top-flight experience guarantees nothing.

Stoke have also been quick to look at themselves; the owners and experienced players are among those to have already cast their damning verdicts on where it went wrong.

It seems Sunday's match will merely be a 90-minute distraction from some extremely significant soul searching.

    Huddersfield Town

Retiring Huddersfield midfielder Dean Whitehead to BBC Radio 5 live: "Staying up was a fantastic night for us. After Southampton beat Swansea, we knew we needed a point. To go to Stamford Bridge and perform like we did was heroic, we deserved to celebrate after.

"We had that team spirit at Stoke where you’d run through brick walls for each other. Our dressing room resembles those years. The boss has done an incredible job. We were almost destined for League One when David Wagner arrived.

"He’s come into the club, the first real job he had after Dortmund's under-23s. He came in with freshness and a different style. He transformed our club from top to bottom. He had the backing if the chairman. All the players bought into it."

It promises to be quite an occasion, with Huddersfield supporters celebrating their team's survival in the Premier League while Arsene Wenger takes charge of Arsenal for the last time.

He received a memorable send off following the 5-0 win over Burnley, but won't have such fond memories of his team's away form this year. Wednesday night's defeat was their seventh in a row in the league and they are the only side in the top four divisions without an away point in 2018.

This game isn't just about Arsenal's away-day blues and Wenger's final Gunners goodbye. It's also a chance to salute David Wagner and Huddersfield for a remarkable effort in staying up.

An interesting take on Roy here...

Crystal Palace - First 7 Games: 0/10 Rest of Season: 9/10. De Boer: N/A, no time to prove himself or make change, shouldn’t reflect badly on him. Hodgson: 7/10, done a wonderful job but no better than most managers could have done with our squad.

The opposing managers have revived the fortunes of their respective clubs but whereas Roy Hodgson had enough time to work a miracle, Darren Moore's appointment obviously came too late to save West Brom.

Moore will discuss his future after this game with Albion's board, who publicly praised him this week for restoring some pride at the club with his unbeaten five-match spell in charge.

A similar run of form has propelled Crystal Palace to the cusp of a top-10 finish that seemed far-fetched after they lost their first seven fixtures without scoring.

Since Hodgson became manager in September, Palace have only lost three games against teams outside the top six. The 70-year-old's nomination for manager of the season underlines his redemption after being castigated in the wake of England's Euro 2016 exit against Iceland.

Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic to BBC Radio 5 live: “The outcome has been good that we’ve stayed up – it’s the ultimate grind.

“We had a good consistent spell in the winter which helped solidify our position.

“We got to the magic 40 point mark on Saturday – we’re looking forward to a fourth season in the Premier League. We have a new training ground and stadium coming.

“We kept believing in ourselves and never changed our principles. The team spirit is one of the best I’ve been around.

"Staying with our philosophy is probably what kept us up."

David Wagner scores 10 out of 10 from me, he kept us up! Best player, Jonathon Hogg, so reliable, worst player Van la Parra, a diving embarrassment to the club, and he can't cross a ball!

    Andy Crookes from Huddersfield

AFC Wimbledon, 8/10 (league one safety, a trip to Wembley, a certain Buckinghamshire team below us for the first time), 5/10 (it should/could have been much more comfortable), Lyle Taylor (his goals and off the ball defensive work kept us up), Liam Trotter (his knees never got muddy!)

    Jamie, London

I give our season an 8/10; before the start of the season we were expected to struggle playing every game away from home but we had some brilliant results and fully deserve to be in the Champions League next season. I'd give Poch an 8/10; dealt well with lots of players from last season not being anywhere near that standard this season but still missing silverware. Best player - Eriksen; our heartbeat. Worst player - Danny Rose; what happened there!?!?

  20. 'Burnley fans can think of Europe'published at 12:48 British Summer Time 13 May 2018

    Burnley v Bournemouth (15:00 BST)

    Mark Scott
    Match of the Day commentator

Burnley fans can spend their summer pondering where next season's European tour will take them after a seventh-placed finish was rubber stamped last weekend.

Sean Dyche is quite rightly one of the contenders for manager of the season after guiding the Clarets to their best top division position since 1974 - and he's already had his tremendous work recognised locally, with a pub around the corner from Turf Moor now officially known as 'The Royal Dyche'!

Bournemouth arrive with something to toast as well, having secured a fourth successive season in the Premier League, something Eddie Howe described as an 'incredible achievement'. The Cherries are still in with a chance of snatching a top-half finish as well.
