A Uruguay win over Saudi Arabia tomorrow (16:00 BST) puts Russia in the last 16, and knocks out Egypt.

Even if the Saudis win, that Russian goal difference means they'll still go through unless there's a big goal swing in the third round of group games.

Neither of Russia's goalscorers today actually started the World Cup in the XI. Denis Cheryshev and Artem Dzyuba both came on against Saudi Arabia to score - and they started today as a result.

Russia are deserved winners, no doubt about that, without having to be brilliant. They spotted Egypt's weakness and got it right. Tactically the manager has got it right by using Artem Dzyuba today.

One thing to wonder, with the chances Mo Salah has had this game how many would a fit Salah put away. That would hurt for Egypt to think about.

FIFA will need to clamp down immediately on players giving VAR signals. I had thought they had tried already with those waving imaginary cards. Both should be immediate yellows.

Phil McNamara: Have to say, Russia have been by far the best team at the World Cup so far. At home, They could go a long way!

Nikhil: Can’t believe it’s barely been 6 days since the first game and Egypt are already looking for return tickets. Excellent football by the host nation here.
