It's still 2-0 to Uruguay against Russia. So as it stands Uruguay are going through as Group A winners with Russia runners-up. Egypt are third because they have a superior goal difference to Saudi Arabia.

That's the best 45 minutes I have seen in a dead rubber match. And I'm older than Essam El Hadary!

Lots of love for Egypt's 45-year-old keeper Essam El-Hadary

Jodmos: Great save by El Hadary. Old man?

Jane: Justice was done, the most ridiculous "hand ball" penalty I have ever seen.

Haroon: I am 39, I still have a World cup left in me.

Johnny: Not a penalty. Neither of them were. And how long did it take the officials to come to that decision? VAR isn’t the issue - it’s the officials who aren’t using it correctly and the referees who are making hideous decisions every game. Shocking.

    Salman Al-Faraj

Incredible drama at the end of the first half.

Essam El Hadary is facing his second penalty and this time the veteran is beaten as Salman Al-Faraj converts Saudi Arabia's first goal of the World Cup.

Boring dead rubber? Not in Volgograd.

    Another penalty to Saudi Arabia?

Fahad Al-Muwallad goes down inside the Egypt penalty area after a tug on his shirt by Ali Gabr.

The referee points to the spot but there's a long delay while VAR is consulted.

  12. SAVED!published at 41 mins

    Saudi Arabia 0-1 Egypt

What a save by the 45-year-old!

Outstanding by El Hadary as he claws Al-Muwallad's spot kick on to the woodwork.

He's already a hero in Egypt. Time to build him a statue?

  13. PENALTY TO SAUDI ARABIApublished at 39 mins

    Saudi Arabia 0-1 Egypt

    First goal for Saudi Arabia?

It looks a harsh penalty as Yasser Al-Shahrani's cross strikes the arm of Ahmed Fathy.

Fahad Al-Muwallad picks up the ball. Will he beat 45-year-old Egypt keeper Essam Hadary?

  14. Postpublished at 35 mins

    Saudi Arabia 0-1 Egypt

Egypt should be out of sight.

Despite his team's disappointing World Cup, Trezeguet has caught the eye and he is desperate to sign off with a goal.

He twice goes close with two curling efforts which land on the wrong side of the post.

  15. Uruguay lead Russia 2-0published at 15:34 British Summer Time 25 June 2018

    Uruguay 2-0 Russia

Another goal in the other Group A game between Uruguay and Russia. And the hosts now trail 2-0 after Diego Laxalt strikes.

It means Uruguay are well placed to win the group while Saudi Arabia are currently adrift at the bottom - no goals, no points.

    Saudi Arabia 0-1 Egypt

Saudi Arabia's defence has lost the plot! Having just conceded their seventh goal of the tournament they attempt the off-side trap but Salah is sprinting towards the goal. And he's on-side!

Surely this is 2-0? No! He's dinked it wide. What a let off for the Green Falcons.
