If the Australians can keep frustrating the French they will be happy. It is OK doing it on the training pitch but very different when you have to do it against one of the best teams in the world and Australia have done it well.

It is all about concentration, they have to concentrate right until the end if they are to get anything from this game.

A little look through the Opta stats shows the France front three have given the ball away more than any of their team mates.

Ousmane Dembele has completed 73% of his passes, Antoine Griezmann 57% and Kylian Mbappe 83%.

You could probably buy a small country for the cost of all three too.

I think Australia came into the game with the ideas to defend, but because France didn't create too many great chances they got confident, started to play and there has been no pressure from the French team.

Australia are organised and rigid, the French look like they have far superior quality in all departments but have not been able to apply that so far.

Paul Pogba floats a ball over the defence which has Antoine Griezmann peeling away to latch onto it but good defending cuts the pass out just before it lands on his left peg.

Sho: Deschamps is the reason France won't win the World Cup. Ridiculous lineup today to play two defensive midfielers. And Pogba again non existent. He shouldn't be starting in this team.

Simon: On paper, the French squad looks enough to worry any squad. On the field, the French squad looks worried to play football. All the talk of Pogba before the game & I'm not sure if he's even on the pitch so far

Can we get a goal before the break? It would be massive. Corentin Tolisso plays a ball into Antoine Griezmann and he goes down but gets nothing. Tolisso chases the scraps and goes down, again, nothing doing.

It has gone exactly as Australia wanted it to. They have not really unlocked the French defence, but they are being patient and working hard to get the ball back.

The gameplan was to keep it 0-0, get some set pieces into the box and see what happens.

The fancy things Pogba does are good, but it is the basic things he has to improve. A little bit of swagger is unnecessary, he is better than that.

France build, Paul Pogba tries to play a simple ball wide but gets it all wrong.

Prior to that he had been the most accurate player in the French team, completing 95% of passes.

Australia win a head tennis battle and the ball ends up back with Mat Ryan in their goal. It's all very frustrating for those in blue.

Australia are sitting in there and making the French think 'what can we do, how can we break them down?'

France try to build patiently and are presented with all 11 Australia shirts. A ball into the box draws the offside flag. Australia's plan is effective. Deflect, destroy and generally don't give an inch.
