    Nigeria 0-0 Iceland

Nigeria looked to mainly attack down the right in the first half, making use of Chelsea wing-back Victor Moses' pace.

Can he unlock Iceland in the second half?

    Nigeria 0-0 Iceland

Oghenekaro Etebo surges forward and gets Nigeria's first shot off but it's easy for Hannes Halldorsson to gather.

More intent straight away from Nigeria, mind.

    HT: Nigeria 0-0 Iceland

Not much to report on action-wise from that first half.

Iceland had the best chance though - Alfred Finnbogason putting a wicked free-kick from Gylfi Sigurdsson just wide...

  7. 'Nigeria haven't stretched Iceland enough'published at 17:00 British Summer Time 22 June 2018

    HT: Nigeria 0-0 Iceland

    Jermaine Jenas
Former England midfielder on BBC One

I've not been happy with Nigeria's quality in the final third - they haven't stretched Iceland enough. They've dominated possession but their build up has been so, so slow - they haven't got it out wide quick enough.

  8. Postpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 22 June 2018

    HT: Nigeria 0-0 Iceland

Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa, while Iceland is the smallest nation at the World Cup.

So just the 180 million Nigeria fans versus 300,000 Iceland fans then.

  10. 'Nigeria must do more'published at 16:55 British Summer Time 22 June 2018

    HT: Nigeria 0-0 Iceland

    Didier Drogba
Phoenix Rising and former Ivory Coast striker on BBC One

Nigeria have to be more creative, quicker - they need movement, overlaps, balls in behind the defence to create more space. They need to be more alive.

They didn't concede but at the end of the first half I could see Iceland were pushing a bit more and I think defending like this with so many players back is creating a kind of chaos.

The problem for me is the strikers are playing with their backs to goal so it's difficult to get time to turn for a shot. They need quality in the last pass - that is what makes the difference.

  11. 'A slow burner'published at 16:53 British Summer Time 22 June 2018

    HT: Nigeria 0-0 Iceland

    Efan Ekoku
Former Bournemouth and Nigeria striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Nice, solid, controlled defending so far for Nigeria.

It's a slow burner after an interesting first five or 10 minutes, then the teams recognised the importance of the game.

The passing hasn't been great in the middle and it has been a little bit rushed by Nigeria. Iceland have had the better chances but so far Nigeria are holding firm.

After the desperate theatrics, diving and dissent of Brazil v Costa Rica it's refreshing to watch a game being played without players surrounding the referee after every decision is made. Why can't this be the norm?

  14. HALF-TIMEpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 22 June 2018

    Nigeria 0-0 Iceland

And that was Iceland's last chance of the half.

A bright start that faded a bit before Iceland created some good chances just before the interval.

Still not had a goalless draw in this World Cup. Hopefully this won't be the first.

The corner goes to the back post and the header back across drifts wide.

  16. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Nigeria 0-0 Iceland

Two minutes of added time - enough time for a goal?

Iceland swing it into space down the right, Saevarsson puts in a wicket cross and Troost-Ekong gets a crucial head on it to concede the corner.

  17. 'Wicked ball in by Sigurdsson'published at 16:46 British Summer Time 22 June 2018

    Nigeria 0-0 Iceland

    Martin Keown
    Former England defender in Russia

I thought Alfred Finnbogason was going to put that in - it's a great ball by Gylfi Sigurdsson - I just think he didn't see it until too late. It's a really wicked ball in by Sigurdsson.

  18. CLOSE!published at 44 mins

    Nigeria 0-0 Iceland

Gylfi Sigurdsson swings in a delicious delivery, Alfred Finnbogason arrives but the ball just deflects off his side and wide of the post.

I don't think the striker saw it until late, going with neither his head nor his leg really in the end. Big chance for Iceland.

Iceland to bang in the free-kick from the right...

  20. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Nigeria 0-0 Iceland

Nigeria win a corner but it's not great by Kelechi Iheanacho and Iceland get a goal-kick.

At the very least, don't Nigeria know the omens aren't good if you're playing Iceland and have your striker on corners?
