  1. 'Bad defending'published at 14:37 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

    England 6-1 Panama

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

I don't know what the England backline were doing there? They all just put their hand up and played for the offside and it's bad defending.

  2. goal

GOAL - England 6-1 Panamapublished at 78 mins

    Felipe Baloy

    They've got one!

England defend a free-kick very poorly if we're being honest, a ragged line, but take nothing away from sub Felipe Baloy, who stretches to convert on the half-volley, flying past Jordan Pickford.

That puts Belgium back on top of the group.

James: Raheem Sterling can't even perform in this game. Needs to be dropped. Start Marcus Rashford in the next game please.

Ben: We've definitely worked on our set pieces. Love the free kick routines from England.

PaulC: We all know how good our England team is and can be. But we still need to see a good team against our defence and goalie to see how they stand up to it. That's only way. England are untested so far.

    England 6-0 Panama

That's the signal for Panama to go for it. They seem to be pushing men up now, desperate for that first World Cup goal.

John Stones must be desperate to go up front.

  5. CLOSE!published at 76 mins

    England 6-0 Panama

Got to score! What a chance for Panama, the corner is nodded on and skipper Roman Torres puts it wide from about three yards out!

  6. Consumate and comfortable'published at 14:33 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

    England 6-0 Panama

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer in Nizhny Novgorod

Still noisy inside the Nizhny Novogorod Arena but England now seeing this one out and trying to avoid any mishaps that might impact on them later in the World Cup.

This has been consumate and comfortable. Just how manager Gareth Southgate would have wanted it.

  7. 'Another set piece for England'published at 14:32 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

    England 6-0 Panama

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

It's another set piece for England. Maguire is so strong in the air and it's great technique by Henderson but it goes wide.

  8. CLOSE!published at 74 mins

    England 6-0 Panama

Almost seven! No surprise that the chance comes from a set-piece as Harry Maguire's header across is volleyed in by Jordan Henderson and falls only a few yards wide.

That was very nearly a beauty.

    The view from Panama

    Will Grant
    BBC News, in Panama

Almost as soon as the game kicked off in Russia, the heavens opened in Panama. And then the goals started flying in. Soaked through and thoroughly miserable at the scoreline, some fans headed home at half time.

But the vast majority have stayed put, dancing in the rain despite the disappointment. “Look”, one woman told me, “Italy, USA, Chile, none of them made it. But Panama did. We’ll learn from this for next time.” It was a good point and a healthy dose of optimism on an otherwise tough day for fans in Panama City.

Mike Gee: I know there’ll be a lot stuff said about Panama being rubbish but this is the sort of game Roy Hodgson would have drawn 1-1.

Robin: England should be aiming for a clean sheet here and so should keep attacking, not for the goals but to stop Panama building confidence.

Chris Mitchell: Dear World, Please sit up and take notice. Thanks ever so.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 71 mins

    England 6-0 Panama

Into the last 20, not sure Jamie Vardy has had a touch. This is being played at testimonial tempo. But then Raheem Sterling wins the ball back well and is chopped down. Booking for Michael Murillo.

Ben Clarkson: I want to see Trent Alexander-Arnold get some game time, it'll be amazing for him and we need to keep Kieran Trippier fit, he'll be absolutely vital in later games, he's been unplayable.

PaulC: Raheem Sterling has done absolutely nothing again. And this is an awful Panama team. He needs dropping. Two goals in 40 England games and doing nothing against teams like this just isn't good enough. England have been class though. Can only beat what's in front of you.

    England 6-0 Panama

This has been a really weird game. Is it possible to not play that well and win 6-0 at a World Cup?

Gareth Southgate has certainly got his side ticking over. Panama are now bossing the ball as England seem content to let them have it. Danny Rose is going to come on

The game against Tunisia showed our ability to eek out a result, today's match against Panama is showing our ability to rise above the nastier side of a game and gets us into the goalscoring habit. The Belgium game will show us how good an actual footballing side we are.

  18. 'How bad are Panama?'published at 14:24 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

    England 6-0 Panama

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

I'm taking nothing away from England, who have been very professional, but how bad are Panama? I thought I was doing them a favour by saying it was Premier League against League One.

  19. Postpublished at 66 mins

    England 6-0 Panama

If we get to seven I get to bring out the (seven) in brackets.

Chance for Panama! Jordan Pickford saves well from Michael Murillo.

    England 6-0 Panama

Even though Harry Kane has got a hat-trick, Jesse Lingard has been the pick for me.
