Positive play from Japan and nothing more than they deserve. The goalkeeper comes out and completely flaps at it before landing on the floor. Honda is on hand to tap it in and equalise. It all comes from very positive substitutions from Akira Nishino.

Birmingham City's Cheikh N'Doye replaces Stoke's Badou Ndiaye in Senegal's midfield.
N'Doye is Blues' first World Cup player since Stan Lazaridis in 2006.

We have seen dreadful defending in both penalty areas and it is Senegal's turn. It is a massive goal. Senegal did what they did in the first half and dropped off and Japan took full advantage.
Japan 2-2 Senegal
Keisuke Honda - who now plays in Mexico - is the first Japanese player to score in three different World Cups.

I really like the look of Inui. I confess, he's new to me but there's a little sprinkling of stardust in those boots. Very good to watch.

The substitute! The legend! Japan are level.
It's absolutely shocking goalkeeping by Khadim N'Diaye, who comes off his line to punch the ball and misses it entirely.
Takashi Inui keeps the ball in play and squares it to Keisuke Honda, who smashes the ball past a couple of defenders on the line.

Senegal's M'Baye Niang fires a cross-shot across goal. The African side could be on the brink of the knockout stages if they win this...

Another 'what could have been' for Japan...
Japan 1-2 Senegal
Japan are going for it now. Leicester City striker Shinji Okazaki comes on for his 115th cap. He has 50 international goals, but none since March 2017. And only one since June 2016.
Genki Haraguchi is replaced.
Japan 1-2 Senegal
Japan want a penalty as a ball is blasted at Salif Sane's arms. No chance.

It's the first time Senegal have strung any passing movement together in the Japan box. Wague just gets there before Inui and he lifts the ball into the roof of the net. Despite being under pressure in the second half, Senegal find themselves in front.
Japan 1-2 Senegal
Japan make a change immediately after the goal. Shinji Kagawa, who is no longer the influence on the team he once was, is replaced by Keisuke Honda, about whom I can say the exact same thing.

Takashi Inui did not track the run of Moussa Wague. He had only one place to hit it, he had to go high. He showed great composure. It is an excellent finish. Mistakes from the Japanese defence. It was preventable.
It could all have been so different...
Japan 1-2 Senegal
Moussa Wague plays for Eupen. He is the only player for the Belgian side to ever play at a World Cup. He is now Eupen's first World Cup goalscorer too!
Moussa Wague
The teenager!
Youssouf Sabaly crosses, M'Baye Niang flicks it on and at the back post there is 19-year-old full-back Moussa Wague to absolutely smash home his first international goal.
Scenes.

Isaac: Japan look more threatening everytime they go forward. Inui should be on a hat-trick by now

Japan 1-1 Senegal
Whistles as Senegal get ready to take their free-kick. They try to play a low pass from the kick instead of shooting or crossing, but it's immediately cleared after hitting the first defender.
