Joshua KH: Last time Japan needed a goal Keisuke Honda came on and changed the game. I'd like to see him emerge soon.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 66 mins

  8. 'So unlucky'published at 17:22 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

    Japan 1-1 Senegal

    Kevin Kilbane

It is a great break. He is so unlucky, he does everything right. He is so unlucky to see the ball come back off the bar.

  9. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 64 mins

    Japan 1-1 Senegal

It's all Japan now and they're so close to going ahead.

Yuya Osako backheels to Takashi Inui, who hits a wonderful first-time curling effort which comes off the angle of bar and post. The keeper was rooted to the spot.

    Japan 1-1 Senegal

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's a striker's dream and he has got to score. Yuya Osako ghosted in behind the Senegal defence and opens up his body to tap it in, but he has totally missed it. They don't come much easier than that but Japan miss the opportunity to take the lead.

    Japan 1-1 Senegal

Brilliant by Hiroki Sakai to keep the ball in play when it looked a certain goal-kick.

Yuya Osako takes a cross-shot from the corner of the box that's neither and is instead a goal-kick.

  12. Postpublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

    Japan 1-1 Senegal

Japan sacked manager Vahid Halilhodzic and replaced him with Akira Nishino only two months before the World Cup. It's looking a decent call at the moment.

  13. 'A glorious chance'published at 17:19 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

    Japan 1-1 Senegal

    Kevin Kilbane
Former Republic of Ireland winger on BBC One

He has to score. He has got to score in that position. What a chance that it. It is just a perfect opportunity for him. A glorious chance.

Japan look a lot better in the second half, a lot more threatening.

Japan are inches away from leading. Gaku Shibasaki plays in a low cross across the box and Yuya Osako air-kicks the ball six yards from goal. If he makes contact, that's 2-1. He should have made contact.

  15. 'Not a booking'published at 17:16 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

    Japan 1-1 Senegal

    Kevin Kilbane
Former Republic of Ireland winger on BBC One

That is not a booking. It's a bit untidy, he gets his arm high, but it is not a booking.

Rich Scales: Very even game now like so many in this tournament, Japan definitely lifted their game after they scored, they carry their momentum into the second half. Senegal look strong and quick going forward still.

More goals - that's a Leon Osman guarantee.

  20. 'Hoping for more goals'published at 17:10 British Summer Time 24 June 2018

    Japan 1-1 Senegal

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It looks like there are going to be opportunities at either end of the field. Senegal are very good going forward but they're poor at the back. Japan are clever with their approach and I'm hoping there will be more goals in this game.
