    Spain 1-0 Russia

Funny really. Spain have had so much of the ball, but needed an OG to go ahead. Russia have, at times, only been able to watch the ball rather than kick it, yet their direct approach looks a threat.

It is the first time Russia striker Artem Dyzuba has won his battle with Spain defender Sergio Ramos.

Chance. Ball pinging around on the edge of the Spain box. Noise rises. It falls to Aleksandr Golovin on the left. Cut inside, right-footed, curling, but past the post.

This passing it around on the halfway line is all well and good, but Spain have only had one touch in the Russia box. Stick them on a shotclock. Use it or lose it.

Isco is Spain's player of the tournament so far - fantastic feet, a consistent threat going forward and not afraid to put a shift in tracking back.

Spain tippy-tappy again. Russia getting dizzy. The Mexican Wave has distracted the home fans from booing. Russia might forget what it is like to have the ball.

Russia are doing a lot of leg work, they are putting in a shift, chase after chase, shuttle after shuttle.

It is a very hot day and the subs will be vital.

Spain have the ball again, teasing Russia, who hold their shape. Deafening chorus of boos. Russia, though, do well to hold it together. Spain can't pick the lock. Mexican Wave in Moscow...

Fifa president Gianni Infantino is relaxing in a big leather chair, the kind that Joey and Chandler had in Friends. I wonder how many times that man has shaken hands in the past fortnight. I hope he moisturises.

Isco is even back defending, cutting out a cross from a charging Roman Zobnin. For some time, the bulk of the game has been played in the Spanish half.

Former Republic of Ireland winger on BBC One

With the aerial threat Russia have, they can put good quality balls into the area and Spain will struggle.

This is interesting. Most of Spain's attacking is being done down their left. That must be where Isco keeps finding himself. He seems to be involved in everything Spain do.

Daniel: Isco is such a delight to watch. Glides across the pitch and makes the game look so easy

Arvind: We’re witnessing an unusually direct Spanish team

Paul: How can anyone enjoy watching Spain play? They're just game killers. Dull and boring just pass pass pass and little else

There's an older fella in the crowd, a Spanish fan, looks a bit like the actor Tim Healy. He's wearing a black hat with what can only be described as a stick of rock poking out of it. For some reason (possibly the hat), he's agitated...

When you're playing such defensive tactics you need ball carriers. Cheryshev has been left out so it's down to Golovin for Russia.

There is some more intent from Russia. It looks like they want to test Spain with balls from deep. On this occasion, it's dealt with without fuss. Spain have had 80% of the possession so far.
