Henry: Weak North American referee. We see it ALL year long in the MLS. Brutal decision right there, not even VAR gets it right.

Bob: Referee is very weak which is a shame.

Phil: This referee is losing control of the Colombian players. Every free kick they swarm around the ball and prevent play. If you can’t control shirt pulling and off the ball physicality it’ll continue and worsen.

Dele Alli is not right. He's down on his haunches now, and needs treatment. I'd imagine he'll come off at half-time.

This American referee and the VAR team are proving calamitous.

Half a chance! Kieran Trippier's delivery is a real weapon, it's half headed away and Jesse Lingard, on the stretch can only shank a shot over the top.

Not sure Dele Alli has been properly fit at all in Russia has he? Juan Quintero then gets a decent shot away but it's right at Jordan Pickford.

Harry Kane tonks a low shot well wide and there's more holding in the area. Raheem Sterling and Yerry Mina are at it now and the massive defender goes down in installments.

    This could get ugly.

It couldn't have been a penalty, the ball was not in play. But there's an argument that it could have been a red card.

Jordan Henderson made a right meal of it mind.

It has to be a red card. That is ridiculous. What is the point having VAR if someone headbutts someone in the face and not get sent off? You can't headbutt someone and not get a red card. That is ludicrous.

After all that, Kieran Trippier hits a decent free-kick over the wall but it's always curling a yard or two wide.

Well then! Wilmar Barrios is booked for that. That's an odd one. It if was a headbutt should that not be a red card?

The referee has got to get to grips with this jostling at set-pieces though. Every time...

All sorts of pushing and shoving in the area. Jordan Henderson goes down. Was he headbutted?

It's pretty soft. It was Wilmar Barrios jostling with Henderson.

England exerting a lot of energy with no end product as of yet. Colombia happy to sit back at the moment and sweep up when England falter. Worried we will run out of steam as the game goes on.

Nice from Harry Kane and Dele Alli, Kane tries to find Sterling and it's cut out. Kane is then chopped down and it's a free-kick in a good area.

Jodmos: Possession means nothing if Sterling keeps giving the ball away.

David: With all the negative comments on Sterling, he seems to be playing his heart out... He could be the hero tonight.

Mike: Breaking news. Imperative that England take off Sterling quickly and replace him with Rashford.
