In the semi-final especially and then today, Ivan Perisic was quite outstanding. The strike is pure as you like. He was fantastic. His drive, his determination and quality is why he was earmarked before the tournament as a threat.

France have been criticised in the group games but they adapted to each and every team they played. To win you can't always play your own way.

People may be looking back at the records and saying 'they didn't play that well' but the players will be sat on the beach thinking 'we don't care, we have a World Cup runners-up medal.'

Harry Kane will not be collecting his golden boot in person - he landed back in the UK this afternoon.

  6. 'Great achievement for Kane'published at 18:11 British Summer Time 15 July 2018

    Ian Dennis
Radio 5 live senior football reporter

What an achievement for Harry Kane. Although he said it is about the team it is still some achievement. He is the first Englishman to win the Golden Boot in 32 years.

    France 4-2 Croatia

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BBC One

Kylian Mbappe is the guy that Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi are handing the crown over to. He is the guy who will be standing up on that Ballon d'Or podium in years to come. Easy.

I hope my old club are chasing him! He has that connection with Paul Pogba too.

    Sir Trevor Brooking
Former England midfielder in Moscow for BBC Radio 5 live

Paul Pogba wasn't charging around like we see sometimes at home. He was asked to do a role in the team and did it well. He was disciplined and got the goal as well.

  11. 'So much to come from Mbappe'published at 18:08 British Summer Time 15 July 2018

    France 4-2 Croatia

    Jurgen Klinsmann
Former Germany head coach on BBC One

There is so much to come down the road. He is shaking up the market. With Ronaldo moving and Neymar being linked with other clubs, where is it finishing with this kid? What impresses me most is that he is already a part of the French team that is like a family. He looks so comfortable in this side, like he has been playing in it for 10 years.

Charlie: Olivier Giroud is a World Cup winner. Proof that anything is possible.

Mo: Are Croatia going to complain that the media have them too much respect now?

Si: Having frozen on the big occasion two years ago, Didier Deschamps and his men stirred themselves to go one better this year. A brilliant story, and proof that a near miss never “counts for nothing” if you learn from it and build on it.

  13. 'Maturity beyond his years'published at 18:08 British Summer Time 15 July 2018

    Rio Ferdinand

To come to a World Cup with all eyes on you, and to do this at 19-years-old... What a great strike. It's the intelligence and the decision making. Kylian Mbappe makes the right decisions so often. There is already maturity beyond his years.

That was naughty! The weight of the pass and the execution on the volley is such a difficult skill to do. Paul Pogba guides it beautifully into the corner. He doesn't just admire the pass, he catches up to the play and hopes to have a chance to meet it.

  16. 'Harsh on Croatia'published at 18:07 British Summer Time 15 July 2018

    France win the World Cup

    Alan Shearer

I was hoping at half time, that we would get more goals because I didn't want that penalty decision to be so huge in a World Cup Final. We have had a magnificent World Cup from start to finish and I didn't want it to be decided on that decision to award France a penalty.
