Six goals, an own goal, a howler or two, VAR - what else can Russia 2018 gift us in the remaining few minutes?

It's been the tournament of late goals after all. Ivan Perisic's fine cross is nodded away.

Mario Mandzukic has become just the fifth player to score in both World Cup and European Cup/Champions League finals, after Ferenc Puskas, Zoltan Czibor, Gerd Muller and Zinedine Zidane.

What on earth is Hugo Lloris doing? He is in a World Cup final and he's been punished for taking liberties. I said Game. Set. Match. But this is great for the neutral.

World Cup final or Sunday League?!

Hugo Lloris, what on earth are you doing? The Spurs keeper gets a backpass, tries to take a touch around Mario Mandzukic and he tackles him and puts it into an empty net.

    Karius-esque.

    Croatia handed a lifeline.

    Martin Keown
Former England defender on BBC One

    Game. Set. Match.

We talked about the youngster coming to the final and he has left his mark now. Mbappe has no right to shoot from there but that is exactly what he does. The goalkeeper has no chance and he cannot even see it. The water carrier is carrying champagne now.

    France 4-1 Croatia

If you're just tuning in and have seen the scoreline this has been a bizarre final! Until France went 3-1 ahead they were very much second best but now Croatia appear to have fallen apart.

  15. 'The goalkeeper is stood watching'published at 17:25 British Summer Time 15 July 2018

    France 4-1 Croatia

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

The goalkeeper Subasic hasn't dived for one shot. Mbappe has got to be 25 yards out. No one closes him down. The shot has not gone in the bottom corner and the goalkeeper is stood watching again.

    Media caption,

World Cup 2018: Kylian Mbappe goal stretches lead

Wow! Game over now. Start the coronation!

Kylian Mbappe becomes only the second teenager to score in a World Cup final and it's a bit of a hiding now.

Again, Danijel Subasic doesn't cover himself in glory in the Croatian goal, he takes a step to his left and Mbappe drills into the other corner from about 22 yards.

He is mobbed by the whole squad! They stream from the bench onto the youngster with the world at his feet...

Ed: France getting completely outplayed and through luck and ludicrous decisions somehow 3-1 up. No one said football or life was fair

    France 3-1 Croatia

You have to feel sorry for Croatia here don't you? You'd do well to play better than they have today in a major final and still be 3-1 down. France have barely asked any questions all game but now have a comfortable lead.

This will be a very tough defeat to take for the men in red and white. Unless, there is still time...
