  4. Should Villa's Johnstone have seen red?published at 22:25 British Summer Time 15 May 2018

FT: Aston Villa 0-0 Middlesbrough (1-0 agg)

On the decision not to send off Villa keeper Sam Johnstone for a handball outside the area, Tony Pulis adds: "I'm really disappointed.

"Everybody understands the rules and you need him to make the correct decision. I don't think he's made the correct decision.

"Personally, I think it was the wrong decision and I'm sure there's a lot of people watching who'd agree with me."

He was shown a yellow card after deliberately handling the ball just outside the area.

    Villa boss Steve Bruce says:

"Yes, it could have been a red card. We probably got away with one there."

FT: Aston Villa 0-0 Middlesbrough (1-0 agg)

Boro boss Tony Pulis tells Sky Sports: "A set play has really cost us over two games.

"But I'm very, very proud of the lads. In the first half tonight, we played really, really well.

"But we've created opportunities and we've got to take those opportunities.

"The teams that's finished third and fourth over a season has got to Wembley and that's justification I can accept. It's difficult for me to say that, but they've been the third and fourth-best teams in the league."

"It was agony towards the end, if I'm being honest. It means so much.

"Thankfully it looks as if we've got the club turned around a little bit.

"We've given ourselves a good chance. We're up against an outstanding team in Fulham."

"I put a lot of my good form lately in to this guy (Terry) and I thank him for that.

As Villa celebrate, there are Boro fans with their heads in their hands in the away end.

The visitors simply didn't show enough quality tonight, to break Villa down.

Stewart Downing hit the bar from a powerful free-kick late on, but Boro didn't technically get any attempts on target. That's not good enough in a semi-final second leg, when you need a goal.

  20. Terry on 'superb gameplan'published at 21:49 British Summer Time 15 May 2018

FT: Aston Villa 0-0 Middlesbrough (1-0 agg)

Aston Villa defender John Terry tells Sky Sports: "It was two very good performances.

"The boys were different class. It was important we didn't concede. Another clean sheet is very good.

"The gameplan was superb so the manager deserves a lot of credit for that.

"There's a great team spirit among the boys. One more step and it'll be the dream.

"Boro are a very good side... [Adama] Traore is a big threat but [Alan] Hutton was superb over the two legs."
