  1. This has been a hard watchpublished at 18:02 British Summer Time 26 May 2018

    HT: Aston Villa 0-1 Fulham

    Steve Claridge
Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 live

I don't know why Steve Bruce has set his side up in such a negative way. We haven't seen a thing from Villa.

Lewis Grabban is up on his own - never at any stage have the widemen or midfield players moved to support him.

It's been a hard watch. You always know how the team has played by the reaction at half-time: I'm looking in the Villa end and not one fan should be clapping that performance. This could be an opportunity missed if they don't right this.

  2. Still to come...published at 18:00 British Summer Time 26 May 2018

Coming up: Real Madrid v Liverpool (19:45 BST)

This is of course just the first of two enormous football matches today.

You can join my colleague Shamoon Hafez for all the build-up to tonight's Champions League final between Liverpool & Real Madrid here.

Former Liverpool and Fulham left-back John Arne Riise sure knows who he wants to win the two respective games...

  3. 'No Villa fan can be happy with that'published at 17:59 British Summer Time 26 May 2018

    Aston Villa fan Phil

"Well, no Aston Villa fan can be happy with that half. Too slow and too many mistakes.

"Fulham certainly have the edge. We’re just hoping Steve Bruce can work his magic in the half-time team talk."

  4. 'I'm still in shock'published at 17:56 British Summer Time 26 May 2018

"I'm absolutely over the moon with that half from Fulham. A wonderful goal from the Whites, a fantastic finish.

"Villa will be a totally different team second half, and of course we need to be at our best to pull through and reach the promised land.

"I'm still in shock that I've seen little old Fulham score at Wembley."

  5. Contrasting emotions at half-timepublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 26 May 2018

    HT: Aston Villa 0-1 Fulham

We're following the progress of Fulham fan Ben and Aston Villa supporter Phil this afternoon, with the pair sitting at opposite ends of Wembley cheering their respective teams on.

Needless to say, one's slightly happier than the other at half-time...

  6. Championship attendances rise againpublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 26 May 2018

    HT: Aston Villa 0-1 Fulham

Championship attendances increased by almost 210,000 in the 2017-18 season as overall figures for the English Football League topped 18 million for the second successive campaign.

The second-tier total went up to more than 11.3 million despite Newcastle, who averaged 51,000 fans in 2016-17, being promoted to the Premier League.

Ryan Sessegnon provided the assist for the only moment of quality we've had in this half so far.

Fulham are 1-0 up but you can see the nerves from both sides. This has been a half littered with lots of mistakes, with neither side clicking.

  8. HALF-TIMEpublished at 45+3 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Fulham

Fulham skipper Tom Cairney's neatly-taken goal separates these sides at the break.

There will be a minimum of two minutes of added time at the end of this first half, and it's all going Fulham's way so far.

  11. Villa need to be more positivepublished at 44 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Fulham

    Steve Claridge
Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Fulham are playing more how we'd expect them to play.

Villa have one up front in Lewis Grabban but their wingers are more worried about Fulham than going forward. To say Grabban is isolated is an understatement.

They look like they're waiting to make a change but they'll never get back into it this way. They need to be more positive.

    Aston Villa 0-1 Fulham

James Chester and Sam Johnstone almost have heads in Villa hands, as - between them - they hesitate over a clearance, with Aleksandar Mitrovic lurking, but Chester eventually scoops the ball away from danger, much to Steve Bruce's relief.

    Aston Villa 0-1 Fulham

Aleksandar Mitrovic sees a shot blocked at the other end - by Villa centre-half James Chester - after some quick one-touch passing from Fulham on the edge of the Villa area.

Fulham look so dangerous when they move the ball around as smoothly as that.

  14. CLOSE!published at 40 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Fulham

Villa create their best moment of the half so far, as Robert Snodgrass cleverly dinks his free-kick in behind for Jack Grealish to run on to, but the young Villa playmaker fires over the bar from a tight angle.

  15. YELLOW CARD (Fulham)published at 39 mins

Fulham's Denis Odoi is booked for a late clip on Villa's Jack Grealish.

Villa have a free-kick in a dangerous position, just to the right of centre.

A few of you have been reacting to that apparent stamp from Ryan Fredericks on Jack Grealish a few moments ago...

Dan Bell: A stonewall red that, clear stamp

    David Thackeray: Red card.

Is the Fulham full-back lucky to still be on the field?

  17. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Aston Villa 0-1 Fulham

A lengthy spell of Fulham possession in the final third ends with Matt Targett lifting a shot over the bar from outside the area.

Villa appear to be very deep.

There's plenty of time left yet but I should point out that a lot of Championship play-off finals have ended 1-0 recently.
