It’s been a bad 24 hours for the world goalkeepers’ union... One member in particular!

But Shrewsbury’s Dean Henderson has righted things a bit there, reminding us they can be heroes as well as zeroes.

It was in almost exactly the same minute that Henderson was left flattened by a hefty challenge from Lincoln City striker Matt Rhead at the other end of this Wembley pitch in Town’s EFL Trophy defeat seven weeks ago.

This time he has the Shrewsbury fans screaming for another reason by saving David Ball’s penalty. Admittedly, he was well off his lines, but the Wembley fates did rather owe him one!

It will be interesting to see how the referee approaches the rest of the game now. If he's going to give that penalty, he has set the tone for the rest of the game.

In terms of the football, Rotherham have settled the better.

    Almost a chance for Shrewsbury.

Great build-up play from Carlton Morris and Jon Nolan sets Shaun Whalley free down the right hand side.

He cuts back and delivers a left-footed cross which is just over the head of winger Alex Rodman at the back post.

Paul Warne's team selection showed he was thinking attacking-minded. When David Ball does play, you've got to get him in the game.

It sounds daft when he's just missed a penalty, but that's what he can do - he's a danger.

He's clever, bright and a danger in and around the box. If people like Will Vaulks can get the ball to him, he'll cause no end of problems.

Shrewsbury won't know whether to pick him up or leave him free. Despite the penalty miss, he could be the key man in this.

Close again for Rotherham from a well-worked set piece as David Ball flicks the ball towards goal and the ball bobbles across the six-yard box.

Town clear for another corner, and this time Richard Woods flicks a header wide.

The Millers captain was being held by Omar Beckles again there.

What do Rotherham say in their passing drills? "To me, to you."

No? At least one of the Chuckle Brothers is at Wembley today.

Shrewsbury get their first corner of the game after good work on the left from Jon Nolan.

They take it short, and Alex Rodman has a shot blocked before a free-kick is given to the Millers for an unfair aerial challenge.

It looked like a pull but it's a brave call from the referee. The ball in made the decision easier for the referee because it's a quality delivery. Oh, wait - it looks a bit dodgy when you see it again.

I can see why the penalty was given because at the last minute, Omar Beckles has wrapped his arms around Richard Wood. Wood made the first pull, though.

It's not a good penalty from David Ball - it's at the keeper's height, very central. I could have saved that. What an opportunity to go 1-0 up - it's a bad penalty and he'll be very disappointed.

Replays show that Dean Henderson came two or three yards off his line, and there were also several players encroaching in the area as well.

    What a moment!

David Ball's penalty for Rotherham is struck just to the keeper's right, and Dean Henderson palms it away.

It's a good height for the keeper as he dives the right way.

A massive roar goes out from the Shrewsbury fans as their team scramble the ball away.

  13. PENALTY TO ROTHERHAMpublished at 8 mins

    Rotherham 0-0 Shrewsbury

From the corner, Richard Wood goes down under the challenge of Omar Beckles.

The referee points to the spot and Rotherham have a chance to take the lead.

Beckles can't have many complaints, as he had his arm around Wood's neck and wrestled him to the ground.

Another free-kick given after another niggly foul - this time by Joe Mattock on Town winger Shaun Whalley.

Millers keeper Marek Rodak claims the delivery.

Having been on the wrong end of a controversial decision when Lincoln striker Matt Rhead should have been sent off for his early foul on keeper Dean Henderson in last month’s EFL Trophy final, Shrewsbury will be even more hopeful of a good performance from today’s referee.

The official in question, Rob Jones, also took charge when Shrewsbury won 2-1 with 10 men at Rotherham in November, despite having skipper Abu Ogogo sent off.

Town would settle for a repeat of that outcome, especially as Ogogo won’t be on the pitch today anyway. He’s out injured.

By way of a further hint at optimism for Shrewsbury as they bid to break their Wembley hoodoo, Ogogo was on the pitch the only time Rotherham have been beaten here, in the 2010 League Two play-off final.

That one was slightly mis-timed by the Shrewsbury centre-back gets a talking to. A cahcne for Rotherham to swing the ball into the box.

In the end, Jon Taylor's delivery drifts over the bar.

A lovely low ball goes across the face of the Shrewsbury goal after David Ball was threaded through by a slide-rule pass. But no-one was there to get on the end of it.
