Spain 1-0 Switzerland
Remember former Arsenal man Johan Djourou? He has come on for Switzerland at half time, while Spain have sent on Lucas Vazquez.
Less than a fortnight away now...
Spain 1-0 Switzerland
The Swiss had 33% of the possession in that first half and David de Gea didn't have a save to make. This is expected to be their first-choice XI for Russia, aside from Granit Xhaka.

Thiago, Koke and Iniesta starting tonight. Busquets, Isco and Saul on the bench. Spain will have the best two midfields at the World Cup.
Spain 1-0 Switzerland
Spain look every inch the business.
Spain 1-0 Switzerland
Thiago moves away from danger and plays a fine ball out wide, but Jordi Alba doesn't shoot and his pass hits Diego Costa. Moments later the evergreen Andres Iniesta sambas through the Swiss defence and his piledriver is well turned away by Yann Sommer.

Ben: Spain could be flattering to deceive here, but I don’t think so. Favourites? If draw goes to form, will have to beat Argentina, Germany and Brazil. Would be worthy winners.
Ian: Superb bits of play by Spain with Iniesta always involved. Passing really starting to cause Switzerland trouble now
Spain 1-0 Switzerland
Ah that's a great chance! Diego Costa wrestles his way free from his marker and heads wide from a corner.
Moments later Costa tees up Andres Iniesta for a curler from 22 yards which is straight at Yann Sommer.
Spain 1-0 Switzerland
In exactly two weeks' time Switzerland will be in the final stages of their opening game against Brazil. It could be a similar story to this, not seeing much of the ball. But they have looked a solid side, they don't concede many. Can they get clear of the group?
Spain 1-0 Switzerland

Spain 1-0 Switzerland
Switzerland have been on the back foot for most of the game but they have still managed to look decent when they have had it. And that could easily have been 1-1, Arsenal target Stephan Lichtsteiner overlaps Xherdan Shaqiri and puts in a dream of a cross, begging for a tap-in but there's nobody there. David de Gea was rooted.

What a finish from Alvaro Odriozola, appeared in a few La Liga ‘team of the season’ selections and may well have just secured the right back berth for their World Cup opener. Surely a soon to be ex Sociedad defender (sorry Sociedad).
Spain 1-0 Switzerland
Not many people will have picked him as first scorer - this is just Alvaro Odriozola's third cap, and he was somewhat of a shock call-up from Real Sociedad. He's just 22.

BV: Spain are poetry
Hugo: Watching the Spain friendly and I'm asking myself if it's the same World Cup we're all going for
Annan: England were good yesterday but Spain are just on another planet
Alvaro Odriozola
Can you hit it?! Yes you can!
What a great effort from stand-in right back Alvaro Odriozola, who runs on to David Silva's rather hopeful cross and crunches a volley into the bottom corner from 20 yards.
He did brilliantly to keep that down.
Spain 0-0 Switzerland
As sections of the crowd without cover scramble for the pac-a-macs in Villarreal, Switzerland are nearly undone by some trademark tiki-taka stuff on the edge of the area. David Silva is a wonderful player. Hot take.
Spain 0-0 Switzerland
Time! You had time! Good chance for the Swiss on the counter, Jordi Alba slides in well to cut out a pass but it then leaves him out of position. Veteran Stephan Lichtsteiner stands up a cross which finds its way to Blerim Dzemaili at the far post, he rather hurries his effort and volleys down into the ground, the bounce is over David de Gea and on to the roof of the net.
Spain 0-0 Switzerland
Nice, very nice from Spain as they mix it up. It goes direct to Diego Costa, he nods the ball down and David Silva doesn't for once catch it cleanly and it is dragged across the face of goal.
Spain 0-0 Switzerland
Just the 62% of possession for Spain so far as we tick past the 20-minute mark.
