In exactly two weeks' time Switzerland will be in the final stages of their opening game against Brazil. It could be a similar story to this, not seeing much of the ball. But they have looked a solid side, they don't concede many. Can they get clear of the group?

Switzerland have been on the back foot for most of the game but they have still managed to look decent when they have had it. And that could easily have been 1-1, Arsenal target Stephan Lichtsteiner overlaps Xherdan Shaqiri and puts in a dream of a cross, begging for a tap-in but there's nobody there. What a finish from Alvaro Odriozola, appeared in a few La Liga ‘team of the season’ selections and may well have just secured the right back berth for their World Cup opener. Surely a soon to be ex Sociedad defender (sorry Sociedad).

Not many people will have picked him as first scorer - this is just Alvaro Odriozola's third cap, and he was somewhat of a shock call-up from Real Sociedad. He's just 22.

Time! You had time! Good chance for the Swiss on the counter, Jordi Alba slides in well to cut out a pass but it then leaves him out of position. Veteran Stephan Lichtsteiner stands up a cross which finds its way to Blerim Dzemaili at the far post, he rather hurries his effort and volleys down into the ground, the bounce is over David de Gea and on to the roof of the net.

Nice, very nice from Spain as they mix it up. It goes direct to Diego Costa, he nods the ball down and David Silva doesn't for once catch it cleanly and it is dragged across the face of goal.
