  1. goal

GOAL - Bayern Munich 2-1 Manchester Citypublished at 43 mins

    Bernardo Silva

A terrific goal from the Portuguese international.

Bernardo Silva uses Luke Bolton's steaming run on his outside as a decoy, jagging inside, setting his sights and unleashing a ripped daisy-cutter of the shot.

His effort buries itself into the bottom corner with Sven Ulreich nowhere in sight.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 41 mins

    Bayern Munich 2-0 Manchester City

Bernardo Silva, on earlier in the half after Riyad Mahrez was removed as a precaution with an ankle knock, picks up the game's first yellow card.

He just got twisted inside out by a Bayern Munich midfielder and needlessly tugged his opponent's shirt.

  3. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Bayern Munich 2-0 Manchester City

    Brahim Diaz looks the bizzo.

The Spaniard, who made his Premier League debut in January against Newcastle, warms Sven Ulreich's palms from 20 yards before sending another long-ranger curling just wide.

How much game-time will he get next season?

  4. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Bayern Munich 2-0 Manchester City

Brahim Diaz gets half-clear, although he has a pack of Bayern defenders thundering after him.

The 18-year-old Spaniard opts for the surprise early option, scooping the ball goalwards from the edge of the box and a tightening angle.

It is weighted well over the top of Sven Ulreich, but drifts wide.

  5. GREAT SAVE!published at 29 mins

    Bayern Munich 2-0 Manchester City

Claudio Bravo take a bow. The Chilean is sharp as a tack, plunging to his right to push away Arjen Robben's snap-shot from 15 yards out.

That was smart from the City number two.

  6. Postpublished at 28 mins

    Bayern Munich 2-0 Manchester City

Luke Bolton is greased lightning down the City right, cantering clear and clipping the ball into the Bayern box.

It is an awkward height, about hip-high, for the onrushing Phil Foden. The Englishman makes a crisp connection but cannot quite keep it down.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 26 mins

    Bayern Munich 2-0 Manchester City

This is not clever for Manchester City.

Riyad Mahrez is flat on his back. His ankle is being poked and probed by the City medical team.

Pep has seen enough. The Algerian international - signed from Leicester for a club record fee this summer - is hooked.

Bernando Silva on and fingers crossed that that is not too bad.

  8. goal

GOAL - Bayern Munich 2-0 Manchester Citypublished at 23 mins

    Arjen Robben

More golden oldies than Absolute Eighties.

Franck Ribery teases a glorious ball over a flat-footed Manchester City defence into the path of Arjen Robben.

Instant control, dinky finish and City have it all to do even with only a quarter of the match gone.

    Bayern Munich 1-0 Manchester City

After the first 15 minutes, when these two were swinging at each other like closing-time car-park sluggers, this has come off the boil somewhat.

  10. goal

GOAL - Bayern Munich 1-0 Manchester Citypublished at 15 mins

    Meritan Shabani

Well, I didn't see that one coming.

Totally against the run of play, Bayern have taken the lead.

Meritan Shabani meets Rafinha's cross with a powerful header that gives Claudio Bravo no chance.

  11. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 14 mins

    Bayern Munich 0-0 Manchester City

Lukas Nmecha fires a low shot across Sven Ulreich and off the base of the post as Bayern Munich full-back Rafinha goes AWOL.

City are banging on the door here...

  12. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Bayern Munich 0-0 Manchester City

    This is very open.

Manchester City turn to prise open the opposition.

But Brahim Diaz's ball, very nearly made to measure, is just a little too strong for Lukas Nmecha.

  13. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Bayern Munich 0-0 Manchester City

Bayern make their first trip into the Manchester City half and Kingsley Coman and Arjen Robben look dangerous.

    No effort on goal though.

  14. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Bayern Munich 0-0 Manchester City

Manchester City are crawling all over the Bayern Munich defence like head lice in a creche.

Lukas Nmecha drills a shot straight into the shins of Bayern goalkeeper Sven Ulreich.

  15. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 6 mins

    Bayern Munich 0-0 Manchester City

Manchester City have a penalty shout turned down as Riyad Mahrez goes to the floor in a challenge with American midfielder Chris Richards.

More concerning for Pep Guardiola than the lack of a spot-kick is the limp that Mahrez rises with.

We'll keep an eye on the £60m man.

  16. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Bayern Munich 0-0 Manchester City

The future is bright, the future might just be light blue.

Alexander Zinchenko bombs on down the left for City and cuts the ball back cleverly for Phil Foden.

The English next big thing holds off some snapping Bayern defenders and threads in Brahim Diaz.

The Spaniard cannot quite get a shot away, but that was silky from the Premier League champions turn-of-the-millenials.

  18. Young City v experienced Bayernpublished at 00:05 British Summer Time 29 July 2018

Man City v Bayern Munich (00:05 BST)

It's a very young looking Manchester City team in Miami. Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo captains a team which made an aggregate 32 Premier League appearances during last season and is sprinkled with teenagers, including 17-year-old defender Eric Garcia.

In contrast, Bayern Munich include big hitters Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben. There are four Champions League winners lining up for the German champions.

Bayern Munich v Manchester City (00:05 BST)

They said pre-season is gruelling. I didn't realise they meant for the live text commentators.

We hop over from Michigan to Miami where a youthful Manchester City side are taking on Bayern.

The teams are out at a sparsely populated Hard Rock Stadium.

  20. FULL-TIMEpublished at 23:58 British Summer Time 28 July 2018

    Manchester United 1-4 Liverpool

All done. It wasn't pretty for Manchester United in that second half.

They will hope that the return of Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic and the rest will jump-start this team into life.
