MikeW: If Southampton at home can't beat a Burnley team who had to play in Turkey on Thursday it doesn't bode well for the season.

Jaylock: Strange things are happening today, Joe Hart and clean sheet can finally be mentioned in one sentence at half time.

    So close for Southampton!

Ben Mee gets it horribly wrong as he attempts a headed clearance and it requires the alert actions of Ashley Westwood to prevent the ball crossing the line.

You'll be hearing a lot more about Liverpool's third goal after the game.

Mane was offside but it doesn't take away from the fact that West Ham are a shambles at the back.

BtheG: What a joke! That is a mile offside.

Briyan: West Ham robbed twice in this game. Bring back VAR.

Broken Sesame: Looked liked West Ham defender played the ball. Hence why it is irrelevant that Mane was in an offside position.

A great pick-out from Firmino. Mane did look offside but he puts in an excellent turn and finish. Liverpool hadn't started the second half with the same zip as the first so they needed that.

I think the West Ham bench will be fuming with the decision though.

GOAL - Liverpool 3-0 West Hampublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 12 August 2018

    Sadio Mane

    Offside?

It's doesn't matter. The flag stays down, West Ham's players are hardly appealing and Liverpool are further ahead.

Roberto Firmino plays the ball into the path of Sadio Mane who creates space before firing low and hard past Fabianski.

Anfield celebrates - but Mane and at least one of his team-mates looked to be clearly offside.

Simon North: To even discuss Milner as one of the best English midfielders of his generation goes to show how weak they've become in that position.

Liam, Dronfield: Milner should've gone to the World Cup. He would've helped us overcome that Croatian midfield.

So close for Johann Berg Gudmundsson who is hurt following a last-gasp challenge by Jack Stephens.

It's all Burnley. Stephen Ward is denied by the keeper as the Clarets pile on the pressure.

Embarrassing West Ham?published at 14:32 British Summer Time 12 August 2018

Ryan Segal: Liverpool are criminally good, but can Pellegrini, a title winning manager, actually think that defending like THAT at Anfield will do you any good? Absolutely embarrassing. West Ham have got their work cut out even to keep their dignity.

LEE: West Ham look like this season's Everton. Spend loads of money but somehow look worse for it.

Lee: West Ham are a bottom 6 team and look like they've never played together Wilshere usual ineffective self and Noble no longer a Premier League player.

Two goals doesn’t flatter Liverpool. They’ve looked two leagues above West Ham. Everything they did well last season they’ve carried on today but done it better. Hunger, desire and speed has all been there in abundance today. That’s ominous for the rest of the Premier League.

Joe Collett-Cramp: James Milner is one of the best English midfielders of his generation. Discuss.

I can see this turning ugly for West Ham.

For all their eye-catching summer arrivals, their defence remains as vulnerable as ever.

West Ham yet again held that strange line in the box and have been done for it. There was no pressure on the ball, Milner made a clever run and he has done unbelievably well to turn that back to Mane. There's no-one near Mane because the defence are all standing still and he can put it into an empty net.
