Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill on Sky Sports: "There's a freshness in the team, it's an opportunity for the boys who have come in.

"You don't have an awful lot to go on with Israel. They are looking for success and will come here wanting a strong performance.

"I'm keen to get Paddy McNair in the team. When he came in you felt he'd be a fixture and injuries have denied him that opportunity but against Greece he came in as a right back and I think he'll give us athleticism."

  4. Big chance for England's undercardpublished at 19:37 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    England v Switzerland (20:00 BST)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at The King Power Stadium

England manager Gareth Southgate, as expected, gives some of his current squad's undercard a chance in this friendly with Switzerland - so it is a big opportunity for the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who is struggling for game time at Chelsea, to make a mark.

Southgate will also want to turn around that recent run of three defeats after the disappointing performance in the 2-1 loss to Spain at Wembley on Saturday.

So plenty to keep the crowd at Leicester City's King Power Stadium interested.

International football is the highest level you can achieve as a professional football, it takes plenty of hard work and dedication.

But for Jon Parkin, a typical pre-match meal would include fishcakes, burgers and a fry-up. He isn't your average footballer and admits he'll go down as "the last of a dying breed".

At 6ft 4in and 17st, the 36-year-old striker is one of football's heavyweights, aptly nicknamed 'the Beast'.

In his own words: "I'm just an average fella from Barnsley who ended up playing football for a bit."

As he looks back on a 20-year career in his new book, BBC Sport takes a look at how not to be a modern professional footballer, via a few tales from one of English football's cult heroes.

  6. 'Looking for a gamechanger'published at 19:30 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

    England v Switzerland (20:00 BST)

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

The team selection offers an opportunity for the younger players to gain experience tonight. It is still a strong side and the majority have played at this level, with a few younger ones thrown in. Switzerland are playing a strong side too.

I would like to see James Maddison playing at his home ground but I know the under-21s are trying to qualify for the European Championships. We are still looking for that player that can change the game for England. I have seen Maddison play in the Premier League and he looks like he can handle that level, so the and the more experience he gets, the better he will become.

  9. NI hoping for win boostpublished at 19:23 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

Northern Ireland v Israel (19:45 BST)

BBC Sport NI's Richard Petrie at Windsor Park: "After Saturday's frustrating 2-1 defeat by Bosnia-Herzegovina in their Nations League opener Northern Ireland will hope to secure a confidence-boosting win against a team who are 66 places below them in the Fifa rankings ahead of an away double-header against Austria and the Bosnians in the new competition in mid-October.

"NI manager Michael O'Neill will look for his team to add a more clinical touch in front of goal to the attacking enterprise they showed in their build-up play three days ago. And count out the defensive mistakes."

  10. Remembering 1981published at 19:20 British Summer Time 11 September 2018

Northern Ireland v Israel (19:45 BST)

For Northern Ireland supporters their most memorable encounter with Israel came on 18 November 1981 when Gerry Armstrong scored the goal which secured a 1-0 win and qualification for the 1982 World Cup in Spain - ending a 24-year wait for a second appearance on global football's biggest stage.

The victory for Billy Bingham's men ensured second place behind Scotland in their qualification group.
