The Croatia fans have decided to have a party. They are all dancing up and down behind the goal to my right. They are clearly making their own entertainment after a poor display from their side in the first half.

Kyle Walker tries to thread a ball into the box from the right after reaching the back line. It almost dribbles its way through for the incoming Eric Dier but is taken away from him at the last moment just as he'd lifted his foot to shoot.

Gareth Southgate has the look of a manager who knows his side should be in front. He has just walked back to the bench from the edge of his technical area with his hands in his pockets. He is clearly delighted with the way England are playing, but they need a goal.

Less than five minutes of the first half to go. England have dominated and have definitely had the better chances but nothing to show for it.

Ben Chilwell swings a cross in from the left and it's headed into the path of Ross Barkley, who is following up on the far side of the area.

He watches the ball fall and attempts a volley which flies into the side-netting. Some of the Wembley crowd celebrate, thinking it's gone in.

Ante Rebic is displaying how Croatia are feeling - he lost possession, then almost downed tools. He's barely moved since.

Croatia are short on options so they play a long diagnonal ball, looking for Tin Jedvaj on the right-hand side, but it's overcooked and bounces out for a goalkick.

Croatia's fans are finding their voice as their team finally gets a few minutes' respite from England's early momentum.

England manager Gareth Southgate will be frustrated at not being ahead given the manner in which they were carving Croatia open.

He will hope they don't pay for missing chances against Croatia...again.

Ante Rebic, Luka Modric and Ivan Perisic link-up nicely on the left-hand side with some neat touches and a few lifted passes.

Eventually, Andrej Kramaric is clear and he darts towards the back line before Joe Gomez sticks out a foot and wins the ball on the right-hand side of the area.

There are a few appeals from the Croatia players for a penalty but it would have been very soft.

Marcus Rashford does brilliantly to step aside from Luka Modric on the edge of the box before Tim Jedvaj comes sliding in.

England patiently try to find an opening, passing it around the area before Croatia win a free-kick.

John Stones tries to find Marcus Rashford but the Manchester United forward is caught on his heels and doesn't go to meet the ball despite cries from Stones saying "man on, man on!"

Croatia quickly try to thread it through the middle but Jordan Pickford calmly collects it in the area. Stones turns back to Rashford and urges him to wake up.

England have been the better of the two teams - Domagoj Vida and Dejan Lovren are very good with the ball in front of them, but not when the ball is played over them or spinning around at the side.

Luka Modric, who has been very quiet so far, is just starting to string a few passes together in midfield. Croatia then try to play it long into the feet of Ante Rebic but he's offside.

Raheem Sterling's touchmap shows just how much the forward is stretching Croatia's back line, with runs on either side of the pitch.

England are using their pace to great effect so far. Just lacking end product.

Even though Croatia haven't played well in this game - it's still 0-0.

You look back to the World Cup semi-final - we started well in that game too.

But I'm excited about how England have started this game.

Raheem Sterling escapes down the right with his pace. He tries to lift it into the box for Harry Kane but Dejan Lovren's outstretched leg just about tips it clear for a corner.

The corner is headed clear but only to Ben Chilwell, who is lurking on the left-hand side, just outside the box. He drills it towards goal and it's swerving before the keeper makes a smart low save.

Almost 25 minutes gone and it's all England.
