    BBC Scotland at Rugby Park

The transformation of Kilmarnock under Steve Clarke continues into the new season as the Ayrshire club picked up their first opening day League win since 2009.

From struggling to win a game on their home astroturf they now have a record that shows only Aberdeen have won at Rugby Park in the past eight months.

The fans are also being attracted back with an increase of 709 on the gate from last season’s game - up to 4,644.

Scott Boyd and a terrific striker from Mikael Ndjoli secured the three points for Killie.

Saints altered their formation second half and had a couple of near things from substitute David McMillan but it wasn’t their day.

    Quote Message

Livingston were pinned back the whole game until the last five minutes when Celtic took their foot off the gas. If I'm Craig Gordon, I'd be furious about that defensive lapse

  7. goal

GOAL Celtic 3-1 Livingstonpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 4 August 2018

    Scott Robinson

The last touch of the ball is a consolation goal for Scott Robinson, taking advantage of a terrible defensive mix-up.

  8. goal

GOAL Dundee United 2-3 Dunfermlinepublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 4 August 2018

    Fraser Aird

Hold on, it's not over yet. Fraser Aird, so impressive for Dunfermline last season, pulls one back against his old team with a low and hard free-kick but our man Willie Miller is pointing the finger of blame at the goalkeeper.

  9. goal

GOAL Ross County 1-0 Alloa Athleticpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 4 August 2018

    Marcus Fraser

The Staggies skipper Marcus Fraser breaks the deadlock with a late strike and that means we have a goal in every game across the country today.

  10. FULL-TIME St Mirren 2-1 Dundeepublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 4 August 2018

It's a great start to the season for the Buddies but it could all have been very different with Dundee dominating for spells in the second half.

The visitors had a penalty saved and then a calamitous error of judgement from Jack Hamilton gifted Danny Mullen the winning goal - his second of the day.

  11. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:42 British Summer Time 4 August 2018

    Hamilton Academical 1-4 Hearts

It's Gary Woods to Hamilton's rescue again as the goalkeeper beats away Steven MacLean's shot on the turn with one hand and substitute Kyle Lafferty is inches away from pouncing on the rebound.

  12. goal

GOAL Kilmarnock 2-0 St Johnstonepublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 4 August 2018

    Mikael Ndjoli

Wow, what a strike from Mikael Ndjoli, as the substitute surely wraps up three opening-day points for Kilmarnock.

The striker strides forward unchallenged towards the Saints box, and from about 22 yards, rasps a fizzing shot beyond Zander Clark.

  13. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 4 August 2018

    Kilmarnock 1-0 St Johnstone

Sensational stuff from Jordan Jones, who has been Killie's game-breaker in this second half. In what's become a familiar sight, the winger beats his man, jinks inside from the left flank, and curls a vicious shot towards the far corner. It thunders off the crossbar with Zander Clark helpeless.

  14. Hearts go close againpublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 4 August 2018

    Hamilton Academical 1-4 Hearts

Only an outstretched leg from goalkeeper Chris Woods denies Hearts substitute Jake Mulraney as he powers clear of the Accies back-line.

  15. goal

GOAL Dundee United 1-3 Dunfermlinepublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 4 August 2018

    Louis Longridge

That's both Longridge brothers on target as the Pars continue to outplay the hosts at Tannadice. It's Louis this time as he skips past a couple of challenges and fires home.

    Kilmarnock 1-0 St Johnstone

    John Barnes
    BBC Scotland at Rugby Park

When these sides met on the opening day last season the attendance was 3,935. The attendance this afternoon is 4,644. An increase of 709. The Steve Clarke effect.

  17. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:36 British Summer Time 4 August 2018

    Kilmarnock 1-0 St Johnstone

Another decent chance for Killie, as the ball breaks to Chris Burke on the right angle of the box. It's rolling towards him - begging to be hit, as they say - but his attempt to bend it beyond Zander Clark into the far corner is comfortably thwarted by the Saints keeper.

  18. goal

GOAL St Mirren 2-1 Dundeepublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 4 August 2018

    Danny Mullen

Howler alert... What is the goalie thinking of?

Jack Hamilton is hesitant with the ball at his feet and as he tries to square the ball has it pinched by Ryan Flynn, who rounds the keeper and knocks it across for Danny Mullen to tap home his second goal of the afternoon.

What a gift. Utterly ridiculous really.

  19. Accies trying to respondpublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 4 August 2018

    Hamilton Academical 1-4 Hearts

Accies substitute Ross Cunningham flashes a low drive just wide, but anything now would surely only be a consolation for the home side.

  20. goal

GOAL Morton 2-2 Queen of the Southpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 4 August 2018

    Josh Todd

The visitors are level after being 2-0 down as Josh Todd tucks away a shot at the second attempt, with his first effort saved.
