  1. Killie keep up Clarke's good work

    The transformation of Kilmarnock under Steve Clarke continues into the new season as the Ayrshire club picked up their first opening day League win since 2009.

    From struggling to win a game on their home astroturf they now have a record that shows only Aberdeen have won at Rugby Park in the past eight months.

    The fans are also being attracted back with an increase of 709 on the gate from last season’s game - up to 4,644.

    Scott Boyd and a terrific striker from Mikael Ndjoli secured the three points for Killie.

    Saints altered their formation second half and had a couple of near things from substitute David McMillan but it wasn’t their day.

    The Staggies skipper Marcus Fraser breaks the deadlock with a late strike and that means we have a goal in every game across the country today.

    It's a great start to the season for the Buddies but it could all have been very different with Dundee dominating for spells in the second half.

    The visitors had a penalty saved and then a calamitous error of judgement from Jack Hamilton gifted Danny Mullen the winning goal - his second of the day.

    It's Gary Woods to Hamilton's rescue again as the goalkeeper beats away Steven MacLean's shot on the turn with one hand and substitute Kyle Lafferty is inches away from pouncing on the rebound.

    Wow, what a strike from Mikael Ndjoli, as the substitute surely wraps up three opening-day points for Kilmarnock.

    The striker strides forward unchallenged towards the Saints box, and from about 22 yards, rasps a fizzing shot beyond Zander Clark.

    Sensational stuff from Jordan Jones, who has been Killie's game-breaker in this second half. In what's become a familiar sight, the winger beats his man, jinks inside from the left flank, and curls a vicious shot towards the far corner. It thunders off the crossbar with Zander Clark helpeless.

    Only an outstretched leg from goalkeeper Chris Woods denies Hearts substitute Jake Mulraney as he powers clear of the Accies back-line.

    Another decent chance for Killie, as the ball breaks to Chris Burke on the right angle of the box. It's rolling towards him - begging to be hit, as they say - but his attempt to bend it beyond Zander Clark into the far corner is comfortably thwarted by the Saints keeper.

    Howler alert... What is the goalie thinking of?

    Jack Hamilton is hesitant with the ball at his feet and as he tries to square the ball has it pinched by Ryan Flynn, who rounds the keeper and knocks it across for Danny Mullen to tap home his second goal of the afternoon.

    What a gift. Utterly ridiculous really.
