    Peter Houston
Former Scotland assistant manager on BBC Sportsound

He's hit it side-foot, with a lot of pressure behind it and guided it into the corner. Absolutely fantastic finish.

GOAL Hibernian 1-0 Motherwellpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 5 August 2018

    Stevie Mallan

That handball is punished as Stevie Mallan drills his shot low and round the defensive wall, which is only about seven yards back. It's right in the corner but goalkeeper Trevor Carson didn't look too clever there.

  3. YELLOW CARD Peter Hartley (Motherwell)published at 15:30 British Summer Time 5 August 2018

    Hibernian 0-0 Motherwell

The Motherwell captain is booked for blocking a Stevie Mallan shot with his arm on the edge of the box.

  5. 'Mental fatigue' took its toll - McInnespublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 5 August 2018

    FT: Aberdeen 1-1 Rangers

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes on BBC Radio Scotland: "It was clear they couldn’t get to the same level of performance they’re capable of and showed in the two Burnley games.

"The sending-off changes the whole dynamic of the game. The penalty looks soft, but my staff have seen it again and can see why the referee has given it.

"The onus was on us to try and find answers. It wasn’t even a lack of spark in the final third – we couldn’t even get there because our choice of pass was really disappointing at times. We’d no real flow to our game.

"Rangers camped really well within their shape. But our decision-making on the ball can only be down to that mental fatigue, lack of sharpness and brightness and intensity that were so evident in the Burnley game.

"People will watch and say, players have got to be up for it. They were up for it. But the quality of the passing, the decision-making just wasn’t there today. But when you don’t play well, it’s important you have that resilience and perseverance and that type of late goal has been synonymous with my teams here."

The first 15 minutes have flown by, with both sides deciding to have a go early on. Lots of blocks from defenders and crosses flying in from the wide men.

A couple of meaty challenges also in the opening period with Carl McHugh the first to be shown a yellow card by Bobby Madden after his tackle in Marvin Bartley.

  7. 'We were much better than Aberdeen' - Gerrardpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 5 August 2018

    FT: Aberdeen 1-1 Rangers

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard told Sky Sports: "We were magnificent. We were very good with 11 men, and even better with 10. Aberdeen had no idea against us. For 93 minutes it was perfect.

"It's frustrating to lose the late goal. Every single player to a man was fantastic. Aberdeen only had one idea and it was to lump it into the box. We were much better than Aberdeen today.

"I'm very pleased walking away from here. It was a chance to come here and show you're better than your rivals and I thought we did that."

On Alfredo Morelos' red card, he said: "When you kick out you give the referee a decision to make. But, he's been barged twice before it quite clearly. The official who spotted the kick didn't spot that. That's the disappointing thing.

"We'll take our time [over whether to appeal]."

Oli Shaw does well to kill a long, looping pass from John McGinn but the Hibs striker's shot is blocked by a covering defender.

Moments later, Paul Hanlon tries his luck from distance only to see his shot whizz harmlessly wide.

  9. Rangers 'showed great character'published at 15:14 British Summer Time 5 August 2018

    FT: Aberdeen 1-1 Rangers

Rangers captain James Tavernier tells Sky Sports: "We showed some great character with 10 men, but obviously we're disappointed to only get a draw.

"I didn't see the red card. I was told by the ref it was a kick.

"We had spells where we were on top, but when they started playing long balls into the box it was tough to defend."

  10. High-scoring Hibeespublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 5 August 2018

    Hibernian 0-0 Motherwell

The returning Jamie Maclaren netted eight times in 15 matches for Hibs last time, including a hat-trick against Rangers in the remarkable 5-5 draw that brought last season to a close at Easter Road.

The high-scoring theme has continued this term, with a 12-5 aggregate win over Runavik of the Faroe Islands in Europa League qualifying, followed by a 3-2 success at home to Asteras Tripolis.

  11. YELLOW CARD - Carl McHugh (Motherwell)published at 15:08 British Summer Time 5 August 2018

    Hibernian 0-0 Motherwell

The home side are making all of the early running as Olly Shaw is crowded out in the penalty area as he bids to connect with a low, driven cross from David Gray.

Play was allowed to go on after a late tackle on Marvin Bartley from Carl McHugh, with the Motherwell man booked once the move petered out.

As Aberdeen manager, Derek McInnes has only beaten Rangers once in nine attempts.

This dramatic draw was his second in charge at Pittodrie.

    Another enthralling encounter.

Rangers were the better team, even with 10 men, for the majority of the match.

They’ll feel they should have taken all three points, but a valuable point, psychologically more than anything, for an Aberdeen side who looked out on their feet following their midweek match against Burnley.

    Hibernian v Motherwell (15:00)

    Brian McLauchlin
BBC Sport Scotland at Easter Road

With Hibernian only arriving back in Scotland at 17:00 BST on Friday, it will be interesting to see just how much of a toll the travel, heat and the heavy pitch in Greece on Thursday has had on the Easter Road players.

There is no doubt that many of them were running on empty at full time in Tripoli but Neil Lennon has brought in the youth of Ryan Porteous and Oli Shaw. Striker Jamie MacLaren who rejoined the club on loan on Friday is on the bench along with Florian Kamberi, who was suffering from a knock in midweek.

Motherwell cashed in on the excellent form last season of Cedric Kipre and now have £1m in the bank after his transfer to Wigan. Manager Stephen Robinson will undoubtedly add to his squad before the window ends later this month.

Striker Connor Sammon has started really well after joining on loan from Hearts and his partnership with Curtis Main could go a long way towards the Lanarkshire club having a successful season.

  18. FULL-TIME Aberdeen 1-1 Rangerspublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 5 August 2018

Steven Gerrard's first Premiership campaign ends in dramatic style and with a share of the spoils at Pittodrie.

Rangers were down to 10 men after only 10 minutes after Alfredo Morelos was sent off for an impetuous kick at Scott McKenna.

James Tavernier edged the visitors in front after half an hour and it looked like the Ibrox side were going to hold on for a deserved three points.

But 19-year-old debutant Bruce Anderson struck in stoppage time to save the day for the Dons.

What an impact by Bruce Anderson.
