This wouldn't happen in our time. We would have dealt with it in our changing rooms, senior players would have dealt with it. you don't have to talk to the press every time something happens. There aren't enough big characters in the Manchester United dressing room to take Pogba to the side and say 'Look, this isn't about you'.

Pogba has got a few allies with him but he has to perform. You can understand if he was playing world class every weekend but he isn't doing that at this moment in time.

All the talk pre-match is about Manchester United but West Ham are starting to claw their way back into it this season.

That draw with Chelsea was impressive and they were really enjoying themselves in the 8-0 win over Macclesfield.

Can they come up with the goods again today?

Just a few minutes until kick-off. The players have just shook hands and are getting into position.

Back in the day, and how Sir Alex Ferguson ran things, in this situation Paul Pogba would not be playing. There was no social media and any interviews were done through the club.

Now you have a situation with Pogba who is social media savvy and knows he has the power at his fingertips. He is not happy at the club and feels he can say it. Comparing old United – saying it was all so perfect in these scenarios – is false. You cannot keep Paul Pogba quiet.

West Ham v Man Utd (12:30 BST)

The row between Mourinho and Pogba has gone on too long now. It started last season and has continued this season after the World Cup when Mourinho had a dig at Pogba. It's escalated and it's getting ridiculous now. As Mourinho said nobody is bigger than the club and Pogba has to show respect to the manager and his teammates who are having a bad time on and off the pitch.

  5. 'Back the manager'published at 12:24 British Summer Time 29 September 2018

West Ham v Man Utd (12:30 BST)

    Steve Sidwell
Brighton coach on BBC Radio 5 live

It is becoming embarrassing for Manchester United, the club as a brand is global so it will be exposed more.

It needs to stop and the talking needs to be done on the pitch because there are too many leaks from the dressing room at the moment.

The club has to back the manager over the player.

John: Imagine going back to January. Telling Utd fans they would be delighted that Sanchez was not in the squad! They would have called you a bitter Gooner!

Agubata: What I love most about Mourinho is his consistency in selection. You have to earn your place in the team. Martial has earned it, so he plays, Sanchez and Lingard haven't, so they are dropped. Simple

Was Jose Mourinho’s training ground talk with Paul Pogba pre-meditated? You have to consider the emotions of a manager. If it was pre-meditated, it puts a different steer on the situation.

People have this idyllic view of Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson, that is was so perfect and everyone did as they were told. People forget the issues with Roy Keane, with David Beckham, Eric Cantona. What you have to understand is that United will always have the biggest names so the stories are always bigger about them.

  9. 'We are better with Arnautovic'published at 12:19 British Summer Time 29 September 2018

West Ham vs Man Utd (12:30 BST)

    West Ham United

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini speaking to BT Sport:

"We started badly this season and improved this week, we must continue to try to improve more and recognise why we improved.

"We need to improve in defence, attack, in possession. Different issues we encounter every game.

"I don’t think we are going to win because they have some problems off the pitch. We must have a high performance against top players who can decide the game by themselves. We can’t think about that.

"We are better with Marko [Arnautovic] than without. He has returned from injury. I hope as team can attack well and Marko can score."

  10. Hammers on the risepublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 29 September 2018

West Ham v Man Utd (12:30 BST)

It's been a good few weeks for West Ham.

After picking up their first victory of the season over Everton, West Ham held Chelsea to a draw - ending their winning run and frustrating Eden Hazard and co.

And the Hammers took their improving league form into Wednesday's Carabao Cup victory over Macclesfield, hammering the struggling League Two side 8-0 (yes, EIGHT)!

It was their biggest win since 1983 and if former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini can get one over on Jose Mourinho today, it would cap off a terrific fortnight for West Ham.

  12. Lack of unity at Unitedpublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 29 September 2018

West Ham v Man Utd (12:30 BST)

Three back-to-back victories had seemed to bring Manchester United back on track but troubles in the dressing room have started to pour out of control.

Amid poor relationships between Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho, United were held to a disappointing 1-1 at home to new boys Wolves and were then knocked out of the Carabao Cup in a penalty shootout to Championship side Derby.

This week could not have gone much worse and with rivals Liverpool already eight points ahead in the table, United fans have every right to feel frustrated.

But victory today could move them into the top four - at least for a few hours - and put United back on track ahead of their crucial Champions League tie against Valencia next Tuesday.

    Chelsea v Liverpool (17:30 BST)

    Steve Wilson
    Match of the Day commentator

So early in the season and yet so much at stake.

Chelsea may have earned the edge at Anfield on Wednesday, but it'll be Saturday that matters most.

Chelsea and Liverpool represent not only a huge threat to champions Manchester City but a huge threat to each other.

It's a fixture which has become one of this generation's greatest rivalries: Liverpool fans (incorrectly) taunting those of Chelsea for their lack of history; and Chelsea supporters (incorrectly) mocking their rivals' obsession with the past.

Of course, it's the future that matters most: and these two seem certain to be involved in a three-way title race which should provide the neutral with an antidote to City's romp to glory of last season.

    It's Chelsea v Liverpool ….. enough said.

The players are out warming up at the London Stadium. Jose Mourinho is stood overseeing things with his arms crossed, looking deadly.

Alexis Sanchez has travelled - he came off the bus wearing his tracksuit. Is he injured? No real inclination as to why he hasn't been included in the squad today.

Jose Mourinho said it was down to "options"... Hmm.

Agubata Odinaka: Man Utd are playing to their strengths today. They are a tall side that can nod the ball and Young is their best crosser of the ball, but Shaw is on fire at the moment so Valencia goes out and Young comes in. McTominay stabilizes, adds to the numbers in the middle.

Laurent: Strong lineup today from us. Pogba in a more advanced, attacking role. Dismal Sanchez left out completely, thank god. Martial and Lukaku starting together will cause havoc to that West Ham defence. Should win easily!
